Chapter 245 Cannot Bear to Lose You

He took a sip of the bitter medicine anyway, then pressed his lips softly against her cold, pale ones.
Theodore blinked slowly. It was the first time he’d ever known how soft human lips could feel.
Cool, light, and tender–just like her quiet temperament.
At last, he managed to get the first spoonful of medicine down her throat.
He fed her another spoonful after that.
Once the whole bowl was empty, he lost control and deepened the gentle kiss.
Theodore whispered softly, “Margaret? Margie? I’ll call you Margie from now on. You need to wake up.”
If she really took the wrong potion, she must have the antidote somewhere on her.
I searched her thoroughly just now and found not a single pill.
There wasn’t even one acupuncture needle to be seen.
Theodore let out a helpless, bitter chuckle. “I’ve always seen you carry all sorts of hidden weapons close to your chest. Now there’s nothing there at all. Are you some kind of mystical maiden who can pull things out of thin air?”
He stared down at her unconscious form on the bed, his eyes filled with raw heartache. “If only you really were. Then no one would ever dare bully you.”
The night stretched long and quiet.
Margaret’s eyelids twitched constantly after taking the medicine. She finally showed faint signs of stirring. The very first thing she did was tug wildly at her gown.
“So hot… So hot…” Margaret mumbled, her lips dark purple.
A faint flush crept onto her ashen cheeks, just like someone still reeling from a heavy drinking spell.
She fumbled roughly to undo her waist sash, her voice thick with pain. “Hot… It hurts…”
Margaret felt awful.
It was like she was trapped inside a blazing furnace, surrounded by fire on every side. Her whole body burned nonstop.
She would burn alive if this kept going.
A sharp ache flared in her chest, whether from the overwhelming heat or the poison coursing through her
veins.
Cold sweat broke out on her palms, and the soles of her feet, and every joint in her body throbbed with relentless agony.

Chapter 245 Cannot Bear to Lose You
This was unbearable.
She couldn’t stand this torment any longer.

Theodore reached out and firmly grasped her wrists, his tone gentle yet firm. “Stop pulling at your clothes, Margie. Wake up. It’s me. I’m right here.”
Margaret frowned tightly as she struggled to break free. “Too hot… Let me go…”
Theodore’s heart ached for her deeply. He had no choice but to loosen his hold, watching helplessly as she tore off her clothes in a feverish haze.
He turned his gaze aside out of respect, his voice soft as he tried to rouse her. “Can you hear my voice? Please wake up.”
Margaret whimpered in utter misery, “It hurts… Everything hurts so much.”
Stripping off her clothes did nothing to ease the heat and pain. She curled up on the bed involuntarily, overcome by overwhelming discomfort.
Theodore quickly pulled a blanket over her, his tone laced with urgent worry. “What hurts? Listen to me, wake up, I’ll—”
Before he could finish his words, her hand suddenly looped around his neck.
Caught completely off guard, he was pulled down onto the bed, his lips meeting hers in a soft kiss.
The cool touch felt soothing against her burning skin.
Before she realized it, Margaret had wrapped both arms tight around his neck, lost in a daze as she deepened the kiss.
Theodore lost all restraint for a moment. Her skin still carried the bitter scent of medicine, yet the kiss tasted unexpectedly sweet.
Still, he knew he could not give in to the moment.
He gently pried her arms away from his neck.
Margaret whispered weakly, clinging to him in a foggy stupor, “Don’t leave… Stay…”
Theodore’s chest twisted with pain at the sight of her delirious suffering. “Shhh, you’re not in your right mind right now. When you wake up fully, if you still want this, I’ll stay with you.”
He dressed her carefully again amid her weak, restless thrashing, his voice heavy with sorrow. “Can you hear me? If you really took the wrong potion by accident, please tell me where your antidote is hidden.”
“I don’t want to lose you.” He held her flailing hands still his tone sincere and earnest. “This isn’t because you can heal my injuries. I simply cannot bear to lose you.”
