Rejected by the Crown Prince? I Married His Uncle
Chapter 247 Attend to Your Assigned Duties

A heavy air of sorrow hung thick in the chamber. Time dragged on, yet Margaret showed no sign of waking up at all.
For the first time in his life, Theodore felt utterly helpless.
He had no plan, no leads, and truly had no way to save her on his own.
At last, Cyan’s voice echoed from outside the door. “Prince Theodore, Mr. Kingston has returned.”
Theodore replied shortly. “Send him in.”
He quickly smoothed out his robes, drew the bed curtain closed, then sank tiredly onto the edge of the bed.
The chamber door swung open. Darren stepped inside, carrying his physician’s medicine chest, his face drenched in sweat from rushing over.
Darren said in an urgent, hopeful tone, “Prince Theodore, I’ve found the cure for this poison.”
Theodore’s face lit up with joy. He stood up at once. “Go ahead.”
Darren pulled an ancient medical manuscript out of the chest, flipped through a few pages, and began to explain. “This is the exact toxin afflicting Ms. Campbell–every symptom matches perfectly. The text records that the antidote requires sixteen different medicinal herbs. Ten of them are common ingredients, easy to find anywhere. Three of the remaining six are rare but still purchasable. As for the last three…”
He trailed off mid–sentence, hesitating.
Theodore stepped forward at once, took the manuscript from his hand, glanced over the page, and recited the names slowly. “Heavenly Snow Lily, Spiritwither Herb, Eternal Ganoderma…”
Cyan stared in utter shock from where he stood by the door. “Is that Millennial Ganoderma, or truly Eternal Ganoderma?”
Seeing Theodore’s grave expression, he pressed on anxiously, “Eternal Ganoderma is said not to exist in this world at all. Even Millennial Ganoderma is extremely rare. Mr. Kingston, are you certain this prescription is correct?”
Darren wiped the sweat from his forehead firmly. “There is no mistake whatsoever. This is an ancestral medical manuscript of the Kingston family. It even includes the exact method of brewing the remedy. All other herbs listed are ordinary and easy to obtain, I can say for certain–if we gather every ingredient written here, we can fully purge Ms. Campbell’s poison from her body.”
He paused for a moment, then added thoughtfully, “When it comes to Eternal Ganoderma, we may not need one truly over ten thousand years old. A fine–quality Millennial Ganoderma will likely serve the same purpose as the final guiding herb. It only needs enough medicinal power to sustain Ms, Campbell’s life. The real obstacle lies with Spiritwither Herb.”
After hearing this, Cyan’s expression turned dark and troubled. “I’ve only heard tales of that herb since I was a child. It grows only atop Wraithwood Peak, along sheer cliff faces. The mountain is shrouded in perpetual mist, swarming with venomous creatures and endless ferocious beasts. No merchant ever sells this herb in the marketplace. Can you confirm it even exists?”

Darren nodded with certainty. “I once had two specimens in my own collection. Both were used to save others who’d been struck down by deadly poison. This rare herb can counteract nearly all toxins. I would never waste it lightly unless lives hung in the balance. If I’d known Ms. Campbell would need it, I would have kept one preserved.”
He let out a heavy sigh. “These two rare ingredients will be nearly impossible to acquire right now. As for Heavenly Snow Lily, I still have a supply stored in my own quarters.”
Theodore issued clear orders in a calm, resolute voice. “Cyan, go to the palace at once and search their stores for Spiritwither Herb and Eternal Ganoderma. Darren, please prepare all the remaining herbs immediately. If Ms. Campbell pulls through safely, you shall receive a generous reward.”
With that, Theodore turned and strode quickly out of the chamber.
Baxter spoke up anxiously, stepping forward. “Prince Theodore, dawn has not yet broken. You don’t mean to go search for those herbs yourself…”
Theodore cut him off coldly, “Do not question what does not concern you. Attend to your assigned duties.”
He added in a stern, warning tone, “While I am gone, this entire incident must be kept strictly confidential. Send word to the Prime Minister’s Estate tomorrow–tell them I was stricken with a sudden headache and asked Ms. Campbell to stay here for the night. As for Crown Prince Christopher drugging her, he will never dare spread rumors of his own disgrace. Likewise, not a single soul in our household may speak a word of this to outsiders. If word gets out and ruins Ms. Campbell’s reputation, I will hold every one of you accountable.”
“Yes, Prince Theodore.” All the servants standing outside bowed their heads in silent obedience.
Cyan looked deeply worried. “Prince Theodore, the assassins from before have still not been caught. It is far too risky for you to head out alone now.”
Theodore replied in a cold, unyielding tone, “No one will know I’ve left.”
This happened far too suddenly for my enemies to anticipate.
Even if they learned Margaret had fallen ill, they could never guess she had been poisoned–or that she needed Spiritwither Herb for the cure.
They would never suspect Theodore was heading out in the middle of the night to search for it himself.
If word somehow leaked anyway, it could only mean there was a traitor hiding within his own household.
