Chapter 37 Present the Gift List
“No way.” someone in the crowd whispered. “His thank–you gifts are bigger than someone else’s engagement gifts?”
Finished
The crowd buzzed with noise. Soon, word spread inside the Prime Minister’s Estate: Theodore had arrived with thank you gifts.
When Christopher heard the news, his lace shifted. “Are you sure they’re thank you gifts?”
The guard who brought the message nodded. “That’s what everyone outside is saying. Word for word. Apparently, someone saved Prince Theodore’s life. So he came personally to thank them with gifts,”
“Someone saved Uncle Theodore?” Christopher’s first reaction was to look at Stella. “Stella–did you save someone out there?”
Stella looked confused. She noticed everyone staring at her, so she forced an awkward smile. “I never turn away the injured, no matter where I am. I’ve treated so many people, I can’t really remember them all…”
Jasper snapped out of it. “Then it has to be you,” he said. “Prince Theodore must be here for you. Go get ready-”
Stella acted flustered–she had never saved Theodore.
Still—with our father away, and Prince Theodore showing up with so many gifts, he couldn’t possibly be here for Jasper
And I can’t think of anyone else it might be.
So she calmed herself down–she would wait and see.
The atmosphere outside was electric. Everyone talked about how extravagant the procession was,
The gift wagons, they said, stretched from one end of the street all the way to the other.
Everyone praised Theodore’s generosity.
And he was generous, wasn’t he?
The display was even grander than Christopher’s proposal.
Before anyone inside could react, everyone in the courtyard had already dropped to one knee. Voices rose one after another in greeting.
“Prince Theodore is coming in—”
“Quick–kneel.”
Then a large group of people swept in from outside.
The man at the front stood tall and graceful. His face was stunning. He walked forward step by step, and his presence alone sent waves of people to their knees.

Finched
“Greetings, Prince Theodore.”
Soon, everyone in the courtyard was on one knee.
Inside the main hall, Jasper saw Theodore approaching. Without a word, he dropped on one knee and said, “Greetings. Prince Theodore.”
Stella hesitated, glanced at Christopher, then silently knelt, 100.
Margaret didn’t hesitate either.
But inside, she was curious.
Why did Prince Theodore suddenly show up? And thank–you gifts….
Could this be about me?
Christopher strode forward to meet him. “Uncle Theodore, what brings you here today?”
Theodore didn’t even look at him. He walked right past, entered the hall, and sat down in the main seat at the front. Then he surveyed the room, as if he owned it.
The moment he sat, his soldiers fanned out around him. They packed the hall and the courtyard tight.
The pressure was so heavy that no one dared breathe loudly.
In just a few seconds, the noisy Prime Minister’s Estate fell completely silent.
Cyan stood beside Theodore, scanning the crowd. After a long pause, he finally said. “Rise.”
But no one moved—not until Theodore lifted his hand. Then everyone let out a breath and slowly got to
their feet.
What was going on?
Why would the famous Theodore come here in person?

Servants exchanged confused glances. Every face was full of bewilderment.
Even Jasper and Stella were lost.
Christopher, who had been completely ignored, looked embarrassed. But he didn’t dare complain. He walked back into the hall with a stiff smile.
“Uncle Theodore,” he said, his voice gentle and cautious, “to what do we owe the honor? My men didn’t inform me—I couldn’t even greet you properly.”
