The Holten residence stretched across an expansive estate, elegant and timeless, with wedding decorations visible everywhere.

On either side of the wedding car stood rows of attendants in coordinated formal dresses, each holding a gift box.

"These are all wedding gifts for the Holten family's new bride," someone nearby announced cheerfully.

Louisa clutched the door handle tightly, unable to bring herself to open it.

Ever since she had seen Elijah, a single thought had been looping through her mind. How could the person she agreed to marry possibly be him?

Before she could ask, Flora had already approached with a bright smile. She placed the veil over Louisa's head and guided her into the wedding car.

Once inside, the unease only grew stronger. The online friend she had talked to for ten years couldn't possibly be the Holten family's heir. Something had to be wrong.

She quietly checked her phone and finally realized the truth. The message hadn't been sent to the pinned profile at all. It had gone to the first name on her friends' list instead.

As for how Elijah had ended up on her Facebook friends list, or when he had been added there in the first place, she had no idea.

No matter how she looked at it, this was a mistake.

"Having second thoughts already?" A low voice sounded beside her, sending a shiver through her.

Louisa lifted her head and saw his profile.

The heavily tinted windows blocked out most of the sunlight, and the black leather interior felt cool and distant, much like the man sitting beside her.

Elijah sat with his legs crossed, one hand resting on his knee. His shoulders were broad, his back straight, and his features sharp. His presence was completely different from Thaddeus'.

"Mr. Holten, are you sure about this? You don't know anything about me," Louisa asked cautiously.

He turned his head and looked at her. "Do I look like I'm joking?"
