Elijah had posed his question softly, but it was a very forceful one. He had been pissed off already, not just because Louisa had praised Zachary. It had begun the second he saw Zachary.
Louisa agreed immediately, "Alright!"
He was feeling rebellious now. The more Louisa turned him down, the more he wanted it. She might as well placate him.
Louisa raised a finger to push him away. However, before she could straighten back up, Elijah leaned over again, draping over her shoulder. He ordered, "Don't talk."
Elijah closed his eyes. Louisa thought he just wanted to enjoy a moment of silence, but when the weight on her shoulder increased, she realized that he'd fallen asleep.
What a man. Why did he need to fall asleep on her shoulder?
The weight on her shoulder was uncomfortable, but Louisa didn't move, instead side-eyeing him. He had a sharp nose and long eyelashes. No matter which angle one looked at him from, he was perfect. If Louisa were to answer his question about what was great about him, she would say the only thing good about him was his face.
Although Elijah looked similar to Zachary, he still lost to him in terms of his vibes. Only his mouth…
Louisa's eyes fell on his parted lips. Even asleep, he couldn't close his mouth. His sharp tongue must've been a natural trait.
While he was sleeping, Louisa took the opportunity to look at him closely from head to toe. In the end, she turned to look outside at the scenery flashing by.
"Mrs. Holten, we're here!" When the driver spoke, Louisa had been on the verge of drifting off.
She immediately peeled her eyes open. Without even looking out, she began patting Elijah to wake him up.
"Don't I already belong to you?" Elijah stretched his legs. The driver had the foresight to have already opened the door.
Elijah got out. Then, the driver circled over to open the door for Louisa. The house before them looked different from Elijah's. It was largely made of wood and had a classical architectural style. It was decorated with lights, looking magical in the night.
Louisa remembered him saying that she should test him out that night. She wondered whether this was where their experiment would be happening. After all, it wouldn't be out of the ordinary for a man like Elijah to own multiple properties and stay in different ones on a whim.
The dogs were still barking loudly. When Elijah frowned, the driver rushed toward the dogs, who quietened.
"Mr. Holten," greeted a man, walking out of the house. Louisa was taken aback by his appearance. He was dressed in a white coat, so he clearly worked in the medical industry. Was the house before Louisa a hospital?
So, why had Elijah brought her to a hospital in the middle of the night?
