Chapter 25

“Stellan is awake, you stay here and watch him, I’ll go get the doctor!”

Hearing an unfamiliar voice, Stellan instinctively turned his head.

He saw that it was the two girls he had met before at Eklutna Lake, the ones who had taken photos of him and Irene.

He was stunned for a moment. “Where’s Rene?” Only then did he realize that his voice was extremely hoarse when he spoke.

Seeing the two girls freeze, his gaze searched the hospital room, but there were only the three of them.

He seemed not to notice the strange atmosphere in the room, watching nervously as the doctor examined Stellan.

“Man, you really scared us. You had altitude sickness and didn’t say a word. Luckily, these two girls found you in time, and it was their boyfriends who carried you back.”

The two girls quickly waved their hands, but their eyes were full of worry.

“We just happened to see him. We didn’t expect it to be such a coincidence.”

The doctor spoke at this moment: “The patient hasn’t rested well and is a bit anemic, which led to the altitude sickness. He needs to rest well for the next few days.”

After a long while, Stellan raised his bloodshot eyes.

“The girl traveling with me is my wife. Did you see where she went?”

“Oh, Rene came too? How come I didn’t see her?”

One of the girls said with some surprise.

The team leader also looked puzzled. “You did register two people at the time, and one was named Irene, right? But we’ve been on the road for half a day, and I haven’t seen anyone like that.”

“Man, are you sure your wife was here too?”

Stellan’s face immediately turned ugly, and he clenched his fists, staring at him.

“What nonsense are you talking about?”

He pulled out the needle from the back of his hand, got out of bed, and searched everywhere for Irene, overwhelmed by a tremendous panic.

The truth he dared not face and his crumbling faith tormented him every moment.

“Rene! Irene…”

Both girls became anxious.
