Seven Days to Goodbye (Irene and Stellan) novel Chapter 26

Chapter 26

“You finally woke up. Do you know you were in a coma for three days? Were you trying to worry me to death?”

Irene spoke with dissatisfaction, but her eyes were filled with concern.

She looked at Stellan, her brows slightly furrowed, a hint of anger in her voice: “Why are you spacing out? Did you get stupid from sleeping too much? If you have altitude sickness again in the future…”

“Rene, I’m sorry.”

Before Irene could finish her sentence, Stellan pulled her into a tight embrace.

He held her firmly, burying his face in her shoulder. He let out a small laugh, but the smile did not reach his eyes.

“Irene, what am I supposed to do with you?”

“Where did you go? They said I was the only one who went to Denali, that I didn’t bring you.”

“How could I not bring you? I thought I had left you behind on Denali. Luckily, you showed up.”

Irene raised her hand and gently stroked his back, all her anger dissipating.

“I went to buy medicine. Did you have a nightmare?”

She patted the back of Stellan’s head and said softly, “Nothing to be scared of, just like stroking a cat’s fur.”

Stellan’s eyes instantly filled with tears, which fell down his cheeks.

Not long after, the door to the hospital room was pushed open, and a stranger, a doctor, walked in.

He introduced himself proactively: “Don’t be nervous, I’m a neurologist.”

Irene comfortingly patted the back of Stellan’s hand.

“Take your treatment seriously, or I won’t pay attention to you!”

Stellan looked a bit helpless, but in the end, he nodded obediently: “I know, don’t worry.”

The neurologist’s gaze changed for a moment as he looked at him.

“I heard you went to Denali with your wife. Is she right here with you now?”

Stellan frowned, inexplicably finding the question odd.

But he still answered truthfully: “Yes, every time I go to Alaska, it’s with her.”

Immediately after, the neurologist asked Stellan many questions about Irene, and his expression completely changed.

He composed himself and finally prescribed Stellan several bottles of medicine.
