Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington) novel Chapter 1186

Still, knowing that Conrad was her biological father, the fact that she could brush it off so easily only reminded him of the relentless hardship she had endured. A wave of sympathy washed over him.

He reached out to affectionately ruffle her hair. Just as he was about to speak, a lazy male voice drifted in from the doorway.

"Liz, why are you bothering Jerome again?"

She turned her head to see Remington, who had somehow managed to finish his shower in record time.

His hair was still damp, and he wore nothing but a pristine white bathrobe.

The robe was tied neatly, fully concealing his chest and waist. But with a face and physique like his,

and his usual unapproachable, buttoned-up demeanor, this relaxed state made him look undeniably seductive and dangerous.

Lizetta quickly stood up, grabbing the stack of clothes again.

"Jerome, I'll take him to get dressed."

Before she could even finish, Remington sauntered into the room.

He took the clothes from her with one hand, sliding the other naturally around her shoulders as he offered Jerome a smooth smile.

"Thanks for the clothes, Jerome."

The casual, familial address rolled off his tongue a bit too easily. Jerome raised an eyebrow.

"Mr. Dashiell, I suggest you hold off on the familiarities until you actually marry my sister."

Even though Remington sounded sincere, Jerome found the sudden intimacy jarring and faintly mocking.

He knew exactly what the man was doing—not showing respect, but aggressively asserting dominance and reminding him that his role was strictly as a brother.

"Why did you come in here? Come on, let's go get you dressed."

Lizetta could feel the silent warfare sparking between them the second they spoke.

She tugged on Remington's arm, urging him to leave. But he stood his ground, casually fixing her hair where Jerome had tousled it.
