Chapter 26 New Wife

Thalia was also curious where the car came from. She looked up at Tyren.

However, Tyren didn’t explain. He simply cast a cool gaze toward the other car’s passenger seat and scoffed. “When did Mr. Crestfall get a new wife? Why didn’t I know about this?”

Alden’s face twisted in anger. “Tyren, if you continue spouting nonsense, I won’t be nice.”

Kiera looked as if she’d been wronged. Tears pooled in her eyes. “Lia, please keep your brother in check. If rumors like that spread, how can I show my face in public?” She acted like the victim, crying harder than someone framed for a crime they didn’t commit.

Thalia didn’t want to watch her theatrics. She turned to Tyren. “Let’s go.”

If this went on, for Kiera’s sake, Alden would definitely start something with Tyren. Thalia didn’t want Tyren getting into trouble with Alden because of her.

Seeing Thalia about to leave, Alden’s expression darkened further. He quickly stepped out of his car, hurried over, and grabbed her wrist. “Thalia, what’s the meaning of this?”

It was bad enough she had snapped at him the night before. She hadn’t come by to apologize all day, either. Now, she was leaving with Tyren? Did she even still consider Alden her husband?

Thalia yanked her hand back. “You’re taking Kiera out for some air. I’m getting into my brother’s car. What’s the problem?” With that, she got into the Rolls–Royce without hesitation.

Alden reached for the door again. But Tyren shoved his hand away, his gaze vicious. “Mr. Crestfall, you don’t need to worry about Lia. You should focus on taking care of the woman in your car.”

Alden narrowed his eyes as he watched Tyren’s car pull away. He was ready to chase after it until Kiera’s voice sounded behind him. “Aldy, are you going to leave me here alone?”

He froze instinctively. Then, he turned back and got into his car. “Of course not. I promised to take you to the auction, and I keep my word.”

“Are you nervous about Thalia?” The way Alden had almost run after Thalia left a bitter taste in Kiera’s mouth. “She left with Tyren. Why did you try to stop her?”

Alden still felt annoyed. “Why would I be nervous about her?”

Kiera’s eyes reddened again, shimmering with tears. “It’s because Thalia’s been acting differently lately, isn’t it? She’s playing hard to get, and you’re hooked. Now that she’s cold to you, you feel thrown off balance, don’t you?”

“Kiki, stop overthinking. I’ve never had feelings for Thalia. You should know exactly where my heart lies.” Alden pulled her into a comforting embrace. “You’re the one I love. That will never change–I swear.”

Burying her face in his chest, Kiera choked, “I don’t like seeing you stress over her. I don’t want her affecting your emotions. If you fall in love with her, too, I’ll lose my mind.”

Seeing her crying so hard that her body trembled, Alden felt even more hurt. “I promise I will never fall for her. Don’t cry, please. Seeing you cry breaks my heart.”

Under his sugar–coated coaxing, Kiera slowly calmed down.

Worried someone might see them, Alden didn’t linger. He stepped on the accelerator and sped away from the office entrance.
