Melanie smiled, silently watching the drama unfold.
In the end, Evelyn left, fuming.
Melanie followed Dominic to the underground parking garage and got into his car.
“What was all that about tonight?!” Dominic immediately laid into her.
Melanie played dumb. “What do you mean? What did I do tonight?”
Dominic suddenly grabbed her shoulders, his grip tight enough to hurt. “You showed up at the seminar without telling me, and then you embarrassed me in front of everyone! What the hell are you trying to do?”
Dominic’s shouting echoed in the small space of the car.
He hadn’t intended to lose his temper with her. But he couldn’t help it.
Melanie’s behavior tonight had been too out of character. In Dominic's experience, she had no interest in academic seminars or business receptions. Despite being Nathaniel Royce’s daughter, she had made only a handful of public appearances, and even fewer after they married.
But tonight, not only had she come on her own, she had stolen the show, even flirting in front of Mr. Halevy.
And then there was that Mr. Whitmore… Dominic’s thoughts were a tangled mess.
Melanie looked at Dominic’s furious face, and her own expression hardened.
Dominic immediately let go. “I-I’m sorry. I was just…”
Just too jealous? The thought popped into his head, startling him.
How could he be jealous? He didn't even like Melanie.
As her husband, he just didn't like other people coveting his property.
Dominic calmed down slightly.
