She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 27

Now that there was no one else in the room, he immediately began to coax Evelyn in a soft, gentle voice.

“When did I ever say I wanted to be with Melanie? I was just asking her what business she discussed with Mr. Halevy.”

“What kind of business could Melanie possibly discuss? She probably just seduced Mr. Halevy.”

Evelyn grabbed Dominic’s hand and placed it on her chest.

“I’m the one who’s actually helping you with business… I’ve already prepared everything Luminaria Aesthetic Institute requested. I’ll send them the new data reports next week.”

“I’ll show you. What Melanie can’t do, I, Evelyn, can.”

Dominic never expected Evelyn to be so capable.

“Evelyn, you’re such a great partner. Having you is the greatest fortune of my life.”

Listening to Dominic’s sweet talk, Evelyn’s mood improved considerably.

Dominic was in a good mood, too.

Having two women fighting over him was proof enough of his own excellence.

Outside the room, Lila peeked through the crack in the door and saw Evelyn’s tears turn to smiles. Her tense little hands finally relaxed.

“Great, Mommy and Daddy finally made up.”

Although Lila’s voice was soft and childlike, not entirely clear.

But Gavin couldn’t have misheard the words “Mommy and Daddy.”

He remembered asking Dominic about it when Melanie was hospitalized, and Dominic had flatly denied that Lila was his and Evelyn’s child.

Gavin pursed his lips, picking up his phone several times, only to put it down again.

When Dominic returned home with Evelyn and Lila, the house was empty.

Camilla had already left for the day, which was normal.

However…

Melanie wasn't there either.

“I told her to wait for me at home,” Dominic muttered to himself, an inexplicable sense of emptiness washing over him.

He pulled out his phone, intending to call Melanie.

Dominic would never know that this proposal was the first bait she had cast.

Once he took it, he would walk step by step into the divorce trap she had set.

It was now late, past midnight. Melanie was hungry, so she went downstairs to a 24-hour noodle shop across the street to order a bowl of beef noodle soup.

At this hour, she thought she would be the only one there.

But just as she reached the entrance, she came face to face with a man.

His features were strikingly handsome, his presence incredibly powerful. He wore a high-end black suit paired with a conspicuous pair of white silk gloves—

Who else could it be but Preston.

“What are you doing here?” Melanie asked, surprised.

To run into Preston in the middle of the night, right across from Dominic’s new company, felt like some kind of fate to Melanie.

After all, Preston didn’t seem like the type of person who would eat at a small Pizza place like this.

Even if he might just be a clerk.
