She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 30

Stellaris PharmaTech Headquarters.

Today, Preston made a rare appearance at the office.

“Bro, I checked these data three times, and I’ve corrected all the errors you pointed out last time.”

Gabriel, trembling like a schoolboy turning in his homework, placed a stack of files on Preston’s desk.

Preston said nothing, flipping through the pages one by one.

The office was dead silent.

Standing beside him, Gabriel could hear the sound of his own swallowing.

He hadn't been this nervous even during his final exams.

“Gabriel…”

Suddenly called by name, Gabriel snapped to attention.

“Yes, bro? What are your orders?”

“Call Spencer and tell him to schedule a meeting with Melanie today.”

“A meeting with Ms. Royce?”

Gabriel was completely baffled, but he knew Preston wasn't in the mood for small talk, so he immediately pulled out his phone and made the call.

“Bro, Spencer says his schedule is completely full today!”

The hand in the white glove paused. Preston looked up at Gabriel.

One look was all it took for Gabriel to know what to do.

After Preston finished reviewing all the data, a trace of satisfaction finally appeared on his icy face.

“This is put together pretty well this time.”

Just as he finished speaking, Gabriel had an update.

“Bro, Spencer is asking about that new pneumonia vaccine Stellaris PharmaTech developed. He wants to know if we can still negotiate on it. If we can, he’ll call Ms. Royce right now.”

Silence was the only answer.

Preston’s white-gloved hands clasped together. The moment he spoke, the entire office seemed to freeze over.

“Is he… negotiating with me?”

Meeting his brother’s abyss-like eyes, a shiver ran down Gabriel’s spine. He got back on the phone with Spencer.

A moment later—

“It’s lunchtime, Ms. Royce must be hungry. Here, please order whatever you like. It’s my treat. We can eat and talk.”

Spencer spoke respectfully as he handed the menu to Melanie.

Initially, when Spencer’s assistant had told her the project meeting was at the Haverford Crown Hotel, Melanie had been hesitant.

At the banquet last night, she had been dressed to the nines and had stolen the show. There was no guarantee that Spencer wouldn’t get improper ideas and try to take advantage of her under the guise of discussing the project.

Therefore, Melanie had been on her guard with Spencer.

However, Spencer’s behavior was a complete surprise.

Not only did he show no intention of making a move on her, but he was also completely deferential. Anyone who didn't know better would have thought she was his top boss’s wife!

The project negotiation went smoother than she had anticipated, as Spencer agreed to almost all of her demands. He even kept putting food on her plate during the meal.

Even someone as accustomed to grand occasions as Melanie couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by the attention.

“Look, who is that woman?”

“Which one?”

“The one eating in the restaurant. Why is the CEO of the Halevy Group being so polite to her?”

Emilia Hartwell had just bought the Haverford Crown Hotel's limited-edition iridescent macarons from the first-floor dessert shop when she overheard the conversation.
