“I think they’re from the Hale Health Center!”
Normally, Emilia couldn’t be bothered with gossip, but the moment she heard “the Hale Health Center,” she immediately turned to look inside the restaurant. In a single glance, she spotted Melanie having a meal with Spencer.
“What is she doing here…”
Emilia was stunned.
She watched as the CEO of the Halevy Group, sitting across from Melanie, attentively poured her drinks and even shelled a crab for her, his solicitousness endless.
The thought that Melanie could be in here, feasting, while she was stuck being an errand girl running all the way out here to buy limited-edition macarons for Dominic, made Emilia’s stomach churn with injustice.
She pulled out her phone and started snapping photos of Melanie and Spencer.
Back at the Hale Group, Evelyn stopped Emilia before she could get far.
“What do you have there, Ms. Hartwell?”
“They’re the limited-edition specialty macarons from the Haverford Crown Hotel.”
Hearing this, Evelyn’s lips curled into a subtle smile.
“Just give them to me.”
She took the macarons from Emilia’s hands, her movement so quick it was more like she had snatched them.
In truth, she had been the one who wanted these macarons all along.
She just found the Haverford Crown Hotel too far and couldn't be bothered to go herself, so she had Dominic use his name to send his assistant.
Evelyn had just returned to her office, clutching the macarons she had been craving, when she saw Emilia follow her in.
“Is there something else?”
Evelyn’s expression was haughty.
Completely oblivious to the fact that she was not welcome, Emilia leaned in conspiratorially.
“Evelyn, guess what I caught on camera during my lunch break?”
Evelyn was initially uninterested, but her attention sharpened the moment Emilia mentioned Melanie’s name.
“It’s Melanie… She’s Mr. Hale’s wife, but she’s shamelessly seducing the head of the Halevy Group behind his back. It’s absolutely disgraceful.”
At Emilia’s words, Evelyn’s eyes widened as she stared intently at the video playing on the phone.
That afternoon, Dominic sensed something was off the moment he arrived at the company. A lot of people were looking at him strangely.
What’s going on…
He would personally serve Melanie food?
Dominic let out a bitter laugh.
No wonder the group chat had exploded. No wonder his employees were giving him strange looks…
The more Dominic thought about it, the more his anger flared. He strode over to Emilia’s desk.
“Delete that photo from the chat now!”
After roaring his command, he stormed back into his office.
Emilia immediately gave Evelyn a knowing look. Evelyn smoothed out her clothes and walked into Dominic’s office.
Inside, Dominic was fuming with humiliation and anger.
Evelyn couldn't help but smile to herself.
She was the one who had taken a screenshot of the most intimate moment between Melanie and Spencer from the video, then had Emilia photoshop the macaron box onto it.
She was also the one who told Emilia to post the doctored photo in the group chat, pretending to be showing off a dessert.
“Brother, I saw the photos in the chat. Melanie is so shameless. So this is how she lands projects? By sleeping her way to the top?”
