Nathaniel stared at Melanie, his eyes wide and trembling.
“Melanie, are you trying to drive your in-laws to ruin? You won’t be happy until their family is completely destroyed, is that it?!”
Melanie was sick and tired of hearing Nathaniel’s accusations. With a weary expression, she silently turned away.
Just then, her phone rang. The caller ID showed it was Gregory.
Melanie hesitated for a moment before answering.
“Melanie…”
Gregory’s voice, as always, was kind and gentle.
At least from his tone, it was impossible to tell if he was angry with her.
Melanie frowned. Although the whole affair started with Dominic cheating on her with his adopted sister and having a daughter, from the Hale family’s perspective, they should hate her for what she’d done.
Gregory’s mild reaction made Melanie uneasy.
Seeing that Melanie remained silent, Gregory spoke again.
“I see now how determined you are to divorce Dominic. The Hale family has wronged you. For the sake of our families’ long-standing friendship, and since your father and I are comrades who have been through hell and back, let’s part on good terms…”
“Dominic is here at my company right now. He’s already signed the divorce papers. Would you two like to go to Family Court now, or schedule another time?”
“Let’s go now!” Melanie said decisively.
There was a brief silence on the other end of the line before Melanie finally heard Gregory say, “Alright, then. You and Dominic can meet at Family Court.”
After hanging up, Melanie took a deep breath, a look of relief washing over her face.
Finally… it was going to be over…
This ridiculous marriage between her and Dominic.
“Was that Dominic on the phone? What did he say?”
Hearing Nathaniel’s question, Melanie let out a cold laugh and strode out of his office.
“Melanie! Melanie, you get back here!”
Nathaniel’s shouts followed her, but Melanie ignored them.
Meanwhile, Preston was on the phone.
