She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 456

"An idol...?" Melanie blinked, staring at Marjorie in surprise.

Marjorie looked every inch the wealthy socialite. Logically, someone of her status shouldn't care about a pharmaceutical developer.

"I studied pharmacy in college too. I used to dream of making a big splash in the industry!" Marjorie said, a flash of regret crossing her features.

"But I never really made a name for myself, and then I got married. That's why I have so much admiration for gifted pharmacologists. That 'Schrödinger's Pill' feels like an absolute veteran in the research field, hiding behind a screen name to drop knowledge on the forums. A young woman like you could definitely learn a thing or two from a senior expert like that."

Listening to Marjorie's earnest advice, Melanie nodded repeatedly, though she couldn't help but feel a little amused.

Did people really think her forum persona was some old, seasoned expert?

After parting ways with Marjorie, Melanie drove to the sanatorium.

Everett was exactly the same. The second he saw her, he latched onto her, acting like a needy child.

"Pretty lady, what took you so long? It's so boring here... and there are all these people in white clothes. I don't like them... I just want you to play with me."

Everett beamed at her, his eyes shining with the innocent, naive light of a five-year-old.

To any outsider, his bright, carefree smile would have been endearing.

If he truly were a five-year-old boy, everyone would have adored that radiant expression.

But...

He wasn't.

He was a grown man.

Looking at Everett, whose mind had been completely shattered, a heavy wave of sorrow washed over Melanie.

It took everything she had just to force a weak smile.

Just then, Everett's attending physician walked over to her.

"Ms. Royce... Mr. Kingsley's condition isn't something we can rush. We run tests every day, and thankfully, there's no organic brain damage. That's the silver lining here... However, he seems to have suffered severe psychological trauma. The chances of him returning to normal anytime soon are, I'm afraid..."

His eyes widened in absolute terror, his jaw dropping as all the color drained from his face.

He stumbled backward several steps, looking as if he had just seen a ghost.

"...Everett?"

She took a step toward him, but he clamped his hands over his ears and began to shriek like a madman.

"Ah... Ahhhh!"

He thrashed around, smashing the dollhouse to pieces. Melanie rushed out into the hall to shout for help.

It took a swarm of doctors and nurses to pin the frantic man down and administer a sedative before he finally went limp.

"Ms. Royce, his current state makes him incredibly vulnerable to any sort of trigger. The slightest provocation will completely destabilize him. Please be extremely careful around him."

With those final instructions, the doctor and his team of nurses filed out of the room.
