She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 506

Melanie had always known Preston possessed an overwhelmingly powerful presence.

She had been completely engrossed in her conversation with Everett, not looking anywhere else. But suddenly, purely on instinct, she looked up.

Preston's tall, imposing figure abruptly filled her line of sight.

He was walking straight toward their table, though he was still quite a distance away.

Even from that far back, she had sensed his arrival the second it happened.

The suffocating, predatory aura rolling off him was enough to make anyone's skin crawl.

Everett noticed Preston, too, and the smile instantly vanished from his face.

He had genuinely been enjoying having Melanie all to himself.

Yet, he couldn't exactly fault Preston for interrupting them.

After all, Preston was her actual boyfriend.

If anyone was the third wheel here, it was him.

Under their watchful eyes, Preston arrived at the table.

Before he could even speak, Melanie raised an eyebrow, clearly amused.

"What are you doing here? Monitoring me? Stalking me? Am I not allowed to grab lunch with a guy friend?"

Preston didn't rush to answer. Instead, he smoothly pulled out the chair next to her, sat down, and murmured, "Can't a guy just drop by to pay for his girlfriend's lunch?"

Melanie blinked in surprise, unable to hold back a laugh.

Showing up out of nowhere just to pay her bill was exactly the kind of move Preston would pull.

Up on the second floor, the group of highly influential executives stood awkwardly in the hallway, exchanging bewildered looks.

Philip scrambled to do damage control, though this was technically part of his job description.

"I am so sorry, gentlemen. Mr. Whitmore has an urgent matter to attend to. We will have to reschedule this dinner."

None of the executives dared to complain. Stellaris PharmaTech was their absolute most crucial client and their biggest source of revenue.

Hearing his name, Preston lifted his eyes, meeting Everett's gaze.

"I hope you don't mind me asking, but... why do you constantly wear gloves?"

It was something Everett had been dying to know, especially watching Preston stubbornly keep them on while wrestling with a crab shell.

Preston paused for a moment, lowering his gaze as he flatly replied, "Mr. Kingsley, that question... is incredibly intrusive."

With that, Preston cut off the conversation entirely, refusing to give a real answer.

Everett's brow furrowed.

He knew the question crossed a line, but he desperately needed to know if Preston had some sort of severe obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Melanie's first husband had been a complete disaster.

He absolutely could not stand the thought of her new boyfriend harboring some hidden red flag.

Everett wasn't a doctor, but he had heard enough to know that people with severe germaphobia or OCD were incredibly difficult to integrate into normal society.
