Receiving a call from her dad right after fighting with Dominic gave Melanie a bad feeling.
“Hello? Dad…?”
“Are you on your way to the Eclipse Noir Club right now?”
Nathaniel’s voice came through the receiver, low and displeased.
“Dad, did you put a tracking device on me?”
“How many times have I told you to stay away from that Daphne!”
Daphne used to run with a rough crowd but had cleaned up her act. Still, Nathaniel had never approved of her.
“I want you at Crescent Ridge Estate. Immediately.”
With that, Nathaniel hung up.
Melanie had no choice but to tell Daphne she’d visit her shop another day.
Forty minutes later, she pulled up to the Crescent Ridge Estate.
“The young lady is back.”
Edmund opened the door to greet her, giving her a subtle, meaningful look.
Melanie understood at once and peered into the living room.
There, Dominic, Evelyn, and Lila were sitting with Nathaniel.
No wonder her dad knew she was going to the Eclipse Noir Club.
So, Dominic had been the one to snitch on her.
It was her habit to go to the club to blow off steam whenever she was in a bad mood or after a fight with Dominic.
Of course, Dominic knew this.
Melanie walked over, noticing there wasn't an empty seat for her on the sofa.
Nathaniel was wearing a brand-new, custom-tailored suit, and the collectible in his hand was the Crystal Seraphim Figurine, something Melanie had never seen before.
“Melanie, I know you and Dominic had a fight…” Nathaniel said, patting Dominic's shoulder beside him.
“And yes, Dominic was in the wrong. But he brought Evelyn and Lila here to apologize, bought me this new suit and this figurine as a peace offering, and even humbled himself before me…”
“For a man to do all this, it shows a great deal of sincerity. The Royce and Hale families have been friends for generations, and the two of you are husband and wife. Couples shouldn’t hold grudges. Just forgive him.”
