Everett stood over Dominic, blood dripping from his nose.
With Dominic battered and bruised on the floor, Everett suddenly looked imposing. He stared down at Dominic, all traces of his former meekness gone.
"You have the nerve to call me disgusting, Dominic?" Everett's voice was sharp and furious. "It was you and your father who were ungrateful! You backstabbed Melanie and her dad! Your father lied and stole my father's credit, and now you want to play the victim? You're the one who stole my life!"
"For years, everything the Royce family gave you belonged to me! That executive seat at the Royce Group is mine by right!"
"Did you think people sucked up to you and called you 'boss' because you were actually talented? Bullshit!"
"It was because of your family's money! But look at you now. You have nothing. So don't try to pull rank on me!"
Dominic gaped, speechless.
He had never imagined a day would come when Everett would curse him out. In Dominic's mind, Everett had been a decent friend, but deep down, he had always looked down on him. Everett was soft-spoken, passive, and lacked ambition. He was just a follower. On top of that, Everett never really fit in with the rest of the group and had almost no presence. Plus, Everett was poor and had no connections.
But the tables had completely turned.
Who could have guessed that the man who saved Nathaniel Royce's life all those years ago was actually Everett's father?
