Dominic’s phone rang for a long time without him answering. Melanie walked over to him.
“Whose call is that?”
“It’s, uh, nothing…”
Dominic hung up the phone and asked Melanie, “Have you picked out a necklace?”
“I have.”
Melanie led Dominic to the counter and pointed at two necklaces the salesperson was holding.
“I like both of these. I can’t decide.”
“Why not buy both and wear them on different occasions? A beautiful lady with such outstanding presence like yourself would look stunning in either of them. You could match them with different outfits,” the salesperson urged.
Dominic just wanted to roll his eyes.
The two necklaces Melanie had chosen were priced at $1.04 million and over $1.7 million, respectively.
Buying both would cost nearly three million dollars.
Even though Melanie had done the Hale Group a great service, he had never intended to spend that much rewarding her.
“Let’s just forget it. Buying two would be too much trouble for you,” Melanie said considerately, which made the salesperson give Dominic a strange look.
Dominic felt like he was losing face.
But he really couldn’t afford three million dollars.
Just then, his phone rang again. Seeing the caller ID, Melanie said proactively, “It’s Evelyn. You should take it!”
“...It’s fine. It’s nothing important. Buying your necklace is more important right now.”
With that, Dominic hung up on Evelyn again.
At the Hale Group.
After being hung up on by Dominic twice in a row, Evelyn’s face was beet red.
Beside her, Emilia’s initial excitement had turned to awkwardness.
She wondered if she should even be around Evelyn right now.
“I’m going out for a bit.”
