She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 141

At the bespectacled executive's words, Sylvie's face visibly stiffened for a second.

Herbert also looked somewhat uncomfortable, but he had no intention of admitting Hulda was his wife in front of his employees at a venue like this.

Since the misunderstanding had already occurred, he felt no need to clarify it. After all, he had never planned on bringing Hulda into the public eye anyway.

Besides, he didn't feel he was wronging her.

This woman had been crossing the line time and time again lately. How many times had she acted out just to satisfy her pathetic jealousy?

"Hulda, get out of here right now! Or you'll face the consequences!" Herbert gritted his teeth, delivering his final ultimatum.

Hulda glanced at the time and took a deep breath. "Herbert, I really don't have the time or the patience to play these games with you."

With that, she wrenched her wrist free from his grip, pulled an entry pass from her bag, and hung it around her neck.

Herbert froze.

Hulda actually had a pass?

"Where did you get that?" he demanded. He had only managed to secure five passes, and that was entirely because the joint laboratory—partnered with Trident Corporation and the institute—had helped facilitate it. Any other company wouldn't have been given so many slots.

He had already distributed his five passes; even Justin Jameson didn't get one.

How on earth could Hulda have one?

Where did she get it?

"You've got some nerve, Hulda. You're actually using a fake ID?"

The reason Herbert assumed this was because the color of Hulda's pass was slightly different from his own.

Hulda decided that wasting another second on this man would only drain her energy and time, both of which she was desperately short on.

Ignoring him completely, she jogged toward the security gates.

"Hulda!" Herbert yelled in panic, lunging forward to stop her.

The security guard merely gave Sylvie a cold, stern look and said absolutely nothing.

Once all of their background checks cleared, the gates opened, allowing the five of them inside.

Having been ignored and met with a cold shoulder, Sylvie looked thoroughly embarrassed.

"Don't feel awkward, Ms. Sinclair. These security guys are all like that," the bespectacled man offered in comfort.

Sylvie nodded, and he continued, "If you ask me, that woman is probably just a volunteer or a cleaner."

"What makes you say that?" Sylvie asked.

"Mr. Larson and I got here the earliest. When we arrived, we saw a bunch of volunteers and cleaning staff walking in, and their passes were almost the exact same color as hers." He turned to the engineer beside him. "Right?"

Mr. Larson looked a bit bewildered but eventually nodded. "I think so, yeah. I don't really remember."

He had only glanced at them in passing. Who would pay attention to something like that?
