She felt confused.
"Oh, we came to..." Before Wade could finish, a melodious piano tune began to play. He instinctively looked toward the piano and paused when he saw who was playing. "Is that Sylvie?"
"Yes," Valery said with a smile. Catching sight of Joanna walking toward them from the corner of her eye, she boasted, "Sylvie said she just learned a new piece and wanted to play it for me to get some pointers."
At the piano, the moment Sylvie saw Wade walk in with a group of people, an uncontrollable wave of anxiety washed over her.
Even more than Valery's, she desperately wanted Wade's approval.
She knew that Wade was the ultimate authority in the Jewell family.
Seeing him looking in her direction, Sylvie took a deep breath and focused entirely on playing.
Wade nodded without saying a word, only to hear Hayden ask beside him, "Who is playing the piano?"
"Oh, my daughter-in-law," Wade explained to Hayden.
But Wade simply had no time to care about Sylvie or her song. At this moment, his mind was entirely consumed by the thrill of finally meeting the genius player he had spent so long searching for.
Craning his neck, he scanned the entire hall. "Hayden, where is the player?"
Valery froze for a second before the realization hit her. She quickly asked Wade, "Are you saying the phantom player is here? Is that who you came looking for?"
Wade nodded, his eyes frantically darting toward Hayden.
Hayden also scanned the room but couldn't find any sign of Hulda.
Just then, Joanna walked up. Before she could even say a word, Hayden urgently asked, "Where is Hulda?"
Asked about Hulda's whereabouts, Joanna looked equally confused. "She said she was going to the restroom and stepped out, but she still hasn't come back yet."
Hearing she wasn't there and not knowing where she had gone, Wade's face filled with visible panic.
This genius player had finally stepped onto his turf. He couldn't possibly let her leave before he even got a glimpse of her!
