She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 336

At the dining table, the remaining adults exchanged glances as they heard Sylvie's cry of alarm.

Herbert frowned, instinctively rising to see what had happened.

Mrs. Chambers quickly offered a reassuring smile. "It's fine, I'll go see what's going on. You two keep drinking."

With that, she stood up and headed in the direction of the noise.

Having said his piece to Herbert, Director Chambers resumed his genial demeanor. "It's nothing major. Probably just something dropping. My wife will handle it; let's keep drinking."

Herbert sat back down and clinked glasses with the director, feeling quietly displeased by Sylvie's outburst.

When handling official business, Sylvie was always incredibly composed. Even if she felt emotional, she would only vent to him in private. Yet here she was, acting so thoughtless in Director Chambers' home.

No matter what had happened, she shouldn't have lost her composure like that.

Especially right after their relationship had been scrutinized by the director.

Just then, Mrs. Chambers' voice called out from the living room. "Honey, you need to come see this for yourself. What are we going to do?"

Herbert's eyes darkened. He could tell from her tone that she was deeply upset.

Director Chambers glanced at Herbert, clearly picking up on his wife's distress. He knew something serious must have happened for her to sound like that.

"Coming!" Director Chambers smiled apologetically at Herbert, stood up, and walked toward the living room.

Herbert couldn't exactly sit there alone, so he quickly got up and followed him.
