Hilda smiled softly.
She thought her mother was absolutely right.
Naomi's strike had already taught Jolie Lovell a harsh lesson.
The Sanford family would never accept her now.
She didn't have a single lingering regret.
Mother and daughter exchanged a knowing, peaceful smile.
Just then, Harrell walked into the room and caught sight of Hilda's gentle smile.
That beautiful, effortless smile.
It still made his heart skip a beat.
He stood there watching for a few seconds before closing the door and walking over, a warm smile on his lips. "What are you two chatting about? You look so happy."
Hilda's smile remained just as sweet. "Is it a secret if I don't tell you?"
He leaned down and kissed the corner of her mouth naturally. "Of course it is, Mrs. Judson."
Gardenia watched them.
Her heart swelled with happiness once again.
...
Half a month later.
It was Christmas.
Harrell sent his assistant to bring little Annie to Alpha City for the holidays.
The family spent a beautiful, warm Christmas Eve together.
Everything made Hilda feel entirely, completely happy.
On Christmas night, Harrell had a social obligation.
He had finalized his partnership with Yorick Lynn.
Harrell had poured a massive amount of capital into the venture.
To celebrate, Yorick hosted a lavish Christmas gala, inviting a wide circle of friends and associates. It wasn't hard to guess the guest list: Zane Ziegler would definitely be there, and it was highly likely Luther was invited as well. Hilda hadn't wanted to go at first; she was worried that running into Luther would make Harrell uncomfortable.
But Harrell encouraged her to attend.
In the walk-in closet.
Hilda selected a stunning black, off-the-shoulder gown.
She pinned her dark hair up elegantly, pairing the dress with a brilliant diamond necklace. She looked absolutely breathtaking, radiating a quiet, expensive glamour.
Harrell wrapped his arms around her delicate shoulders from behind.
