Once Landon had his fill.

Hilda coaxed the baby back to sleep.

Harrell went downstairs himself to bring up a tray of food for her.

The household staff had been keeping it warm, just waiting for the lady of the house to wake up.

While he was down in the kitchen, Hilda took the opportunity to hop into the shower.

Hot water cascaded over her, and she tilted her head back, letting it wash over her lush curves. She ran a hand over her skin, still faintly marked from their intimacy. Her legs still felt weak. He had taken her multiple times, and she knew he was actually holding back, considering he had been completely abstinent since their wedding up until they finally consummated it last week.

After her shower, she wrapped herself in a thick, snowy-white robe and walked barefoot back into the bedroom.

Dinner was set out on the coffee table by the window.

The sofa was plush and incredibly comfortable.

Hilda sat down to eat.

Harrell sat on the edge of the bed, keeping an eye on their son while discussing plans with her. "There's a solid project I'm looking at with Yorick Lynn. It's rare for that guy to bring something good to me; he clearly wants the capital I've got on hand. Hilda, I might be swamped for a bit and will need to stay in Alpha City. I hate being away from you and Landon, and I'd worry too much. Why don't you stay here in the city with me for a while?"

He looked at her intently as he finished.

Hilda gave a soft hum—

"As long as we're back in Havenworth City for Landon's hundred-day milestone, it should be fine."

"But I'm a bit worried about Annie."

After all, there were two children now.

She was terrified that Annie might feel neglected or unbalanced.

Harrell walked over and sat beside her on the sofa. He reached out, gently stroking her flawless cheek, his voice deep and reassuring. "That's easy. During the holidays, my mom can just bring her to Alpha City. She loves traveling and exploring anyway."

Hilda glanced at him but didn't say a word.

He understood immediately.

Even though his mother treated Hilda wonderfully and with the utmost respect.

There was always that inherent distance between a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law.

Harrell wrapped an arm around her shoulders. "Then we'll just fly back to Havenworth City whenever we need to. The private jet makes it easy."
