The drizzle felt like needles.

Falling against the black fabric of the umbrella.

The sound was subtle yet piercing.

Time seemed to stand still. The woman tried to reach for the umbrella, but as soon as her hand grasped the handle, the man's hand covered hers. Her hand was ice-cold, while his was warm and dry, resting gently on top. The lack of contact for so long created a strange sensation.

They had clearly done this many times before.

But they had been apart for too long.

Facing Hilda, Luther actually felt a bit unfamiliar. His tall frame stood before her, his head slightly lowered, his dark eyes deep to the extreme, seemingly containing fire. Both of them knew exactly what their relationship was. He had agreed to her conditions; she had returned to be his wife.

A long period of silence.

Only the sound of the light rain hitting the umbrella.

Annie looked up at Luther.

Then back at her mother.

Sebastian took the luggage from the trunk and carried it into the entryway. Luther finally handed the umbrella to Hilda, crouched down, and picked up Annie in his arms, kissing the little girl on the cheek. "It's been a long time since you saw me. Did you miss me?"

Annie lowered her little head and told the truth.

"Not really."

Luther froze.

But he quickly acted natural again.

He really had let Hilda and the two children down back then.

Now he was setting things right.

If he treated them well from now on, the ice would eventually break. Just like Wilma said, little girls were easy to coax.

She was a six or seven-year-old girl. Acting as a father, he carried her straight up to the second floor to show her the children's room, genuinely wanting to make her happy. He still remembered how Annie used to cling to him like a sweet little puppy, loving to call him Dad, demanding he read her fairy tales to put her to sleep.

The children's room was primarily pink and white.

Very warm and cute.

The 80-square-meter suite came with a small study.

Everything was incredibly adorable, decorated with great care.

Luther kissed the little girl. "Do you like it?"

Annie looked around and said softly, "I like it."

She looked at Luther cautiously. "Can I go to Havenworth City to see my dad during the holidays?"

See her dad?

Luther frowned slightly, quickly understanding. Annie was calling Harrell Dad now. If the child was already this close to him, Hilda's feelings were undoubtedly even deeper.

The man felt a stifling discomfort in his chest.

But he couldn't exactly lash out.

Coincidentally, Wilma came in carrying Annie's luggage.

Luther handed Annie over to Wilma.

He went to the master bedroom himself.

On a rainy day, even during the daytime, the room was dim.

Hilda wasn't in the bedroom.

Instead, there was movement coming from the walk-in closet.

The man closed the bedroom door and walked toward the closet.

The lights inside were dazzling.

Hilda was unpacking.

She had taken off her coat and left it on a nearby sofa. She was wearing a thin wool dress, soft and form-fitting. Her black hair was still pinned up, revealing a section of her snow-white neck. It was very enticing.

Luther hadn't touched her in a long time.
