Luther sat in his car.
Everything had gone smoother than expected.
With Damien neutralized as an obstacle, all he had to do was approach Joyce—Hilda—as a suitor. It wouldn't take long to bring her home and marry her again. For a seasoned man, winning over this version of Joyce would be effortlessly easy.
Just the thought of it. Just the sheer craving for her.
It made Luther's chest ache.
He felt an overwhelming rush of nervous anticipation, like a traveler finally nearing home.
Of course, this Truman Show reality would require actors.
He could handle his parents and relatives.
The trickiest part would be the two kids.
How were they supposed to accept their mother coming back into their lives as some new "aunt"?
...
Night fell.
A black Rolls-Royce Phantom pulled into the Silverlake Villa.
The car stopped, and the man stepped out.
Wilma hurried over to report, "The two little ones are still awake!"
Luther checked his watch.
It was nearly 11 PM.
Normally, he would have lectured them, but tonight was different. He was burning to share the news with the children. Even Wilma noticed the spring in her employer's step, the undeniable glow of a man revitalized, and blurted out, "Are you getting remarried, Mr. Sanford?"
Luther frowned slightly, about to shoot her down, but then realized she was technically right.
He gave a faint hum of confirmation.
Wilma's face immediately fell.
"A stepmother means you'll become a stepfather."
"You're better off sending the kids to the main estate."
Luther shot her a sideways glance: "What are you talking about? You'll understand soon enough."
Wilma remained unconvinced.
Right. Did he know how vicious he and his new woman would look?
Luther walked into the living room.
