Hilda Cassidy was living in her own Truman Show.

In this world, her name was Joyce Croix.

...

On Friday.

It was Joyce's first time visiting the Silverlake Villa.

Although the household staff had been thoroughly trained, they couldn't help but gape as she stepped out of the car. Wilma, in particular, stared blankly at Joyce's radiant complexion. She knew the woman had amnesia, but it seemed as though she had aged backward.

Going by her actual age, she should be in her early thirties.

But Ms. Croix looked no older than twenty-four.

Wilma came to a silent conclusion—

Leaving Mr. Sanford had been the ultimate form of self-care.

Wilma was thrilled. In truth, the master of the house was even more excited, but he kept his distance, afraid of startling her. Waiting for the perfect opening, Wilma wiped her hands on her apron and rushed forward with a warm smile. "You must be Ms. Croix! Mr. Sanford mentioned you were coming the moment he got home. He had the kitchen prepare your favorite roast chicken and wild mushrooms. Free-range chicken, fresh mushrooms—you're going to love it."

Joyce paused. *How did he know what I like to eat?*

A figure stood on the steps.

—It was Luther Sanford.

The man stood bathed in the twilight.

Standing at six-foot-three, he possessed a lean, athletic build, his dark hair slicked back to complement his crisp white shirt.

He was a devastatingly handsome widower.

Joyce figured that with looks like his, he undoubtedly had a string of girlfriends.

As her mind wandered, his smooth voice broke the silence. "Your dietary preferences. You listed them in your school faculty file."

That blatant, bold flirtation made Wilma blush on his behalf.

Her cheeks tinting pink, Joyce walked straight up the steps.

As she passed him, he angled his body slightly.

The edge of his shirt lightly brushed against her.

Even without direct physical contact, the phantom touch sent a shiver down her spine.

Joyce almost regretted coming.

Should she have agreed to this? But remembering how hard her brother worked, she really wanted to earn a little extra money.

The Silverlake Villa was breathtakingly opulent.

Walking inside felt surreal.

The ivory furniture looked astronomically expensive.

"It's the style my wife preferred."

His deep, resonant voice echoed softly.

A pair of indoor slippers was placed right in front of her.
