His name was Marcus Lovell.
He got straight to the point with her.
"Both of my parents are in education."
"If I decide to settle down here in Alpha City, they can provide $150,000 for a down payment. My monthly salary is $14,000, and my housing fund covers $4,000. I'm curious about your situation, Ms. Croix. Specifically regarding your income. We're all adults here; let's not waste each other's time."
Marcus was undeniably good-looking.
He was tall, well over six feet, and came from a decent family background.
He was always picky about women. Even though Joyce was exceptionally gorgeous, elegantly poised, and dressed in high-quality clothing, his habitual sense of superiority remained firmly intact.
While Joyce was just an elementary school teacher.
She had been pampered by Damien like absolute royalty.
People who are completely spoiled don't really need to develop social tact.
She took a small sip of her coffee and answered honestly, "I have a house to live in, so I probably don't need to buy one."
Marcus knew her general situation and replied naturally, "I know you live with your brother and niece, but isn't it a bit cramped living with family? In a city like this where real estate is insanely expensive, even affording an 800-square-foot place is a massive struggle."
Joyce bit her lip.
"It's not bad."
"Our place has six bedrooms spread out."
"I have my own private suite."
Marcus's face instantly stiffened.
He stared at her, not out of happiness, but as if he had just been slapped in the face.
After a long pause, he actually had the audacity to ask, "Where did the money come from?"
He studied her beautiful face, sudden suspicion creeping in.
Stunning women were always subjected to doubt.
Joyce was naive, but even she caught his implication.
Beside them, Ms. Whitman grew anxious and was about to interject on Joyce's behalf.
