At the red light up ahead, he gently wrapped his hand around hers.
Her hand was so small, so incredibly soft and delicate.
Her eyes were brimming with red.
—It was the unspoken agony of a young girl's first real heartbreak.
She didn't say a word, just tried desperately to pull her hand back.
But the physical difference between them was far too vast.
His dark eyes burned right into her. "Are you mad? Are you jealous? Joyce, you actually like me, don't you? If you clearly like me, why won't you admit it? Why on earth are you still going on blind dates? I told you I don't have a lover. I have completely cut ties with every other woman. You don't need to worry about any moral dilemmas. If we go to my place, there won't be any kids to interrupt. It'll just be the two of us."
As for what they were going to do.
They were both absolutely clear on that.
He had already bought the condoms.
She bit her lip, wanting to scream no.
But the words died on her tongue, coming out as nothing more than a fractured gasp.
The light turned green.
Unable to form a coherent thought, she just mindlessly followed the flow of traffic.
Luther didn't push her anymore; he just let her drive.
The car dutifully followed the GPS.
Eventually, they pulled up to his apartment building.
She unbuckled her seatbelt and mumbled, "We're here."
She wasn't going inside. She was going to call a cab and go straight home.
Her head was a chaotic mess; she hadn't thought any of this through.
But deep down, she knew she wanted him. Her body and her heart were practically screaming for it.
—He had completely seduced her.
Her fingers had barely grazed the door handle.
When a heavy palm clamped down on her thigh.
His hand was scorching hot, radiating a raw, masculine heat that practically melted her bones.
"Mr. Sanford, please, let me think about this."
