The final day of the cooldown period arrived, but Stella hadn’t received a call from Tristan. When she tried calling him, her calls wouldn’t go through. It seemed like when he said he was going away on a business trip, he hadn’t been lying.

She texted him, but he didn’t reply either. Now, all she could do was wait for him to return, though she didn’t even know how long his trip would last.

She called Theodore to ask about Faith. At this point, the only way to get updates on her was through him.

As it was the start of the first quarter of the year, Theodore was very busy at work as well. He said, “I’ll check on her tonight.”

Later that evening, she received a call from Theodore.

“Tristan went on a business trip and took Faith with him.”

“He took the baby with him on a business trip?” she asked, surprised.

“Yeah. When Faith starts crying, she’s really hard to soothe. Even Aunt Yelena and the others can’t calm her down. She’s really attached to her dad, so he took her with him on his trip. I have no idea when they’ll be back.

Stella hadn’t expected Tristan to be so indulgent with Faith, or that he loved her so much. A complicated feeling welled up in Stella’s heart.

“As long as the baby’s safe and healthy.”

“You don’t have to worry about Faith. She’s the apple of all the Somertons’ eyes. She’ll be very

well taken care of.”

Stella gave a soft hum in acknowledgment.

The two of them chatted for a little longer.

Soon, February rolled around, and the weather in Justicia remained cold.

Layla began preparing the items Stella would need for going abroad.

With Stella’s departure for Aluna fast approaching, Annabeth rallied everyone in the group chat for a gathering at the Roberts residence. Layla wasn’t letting Stella out of the house unnecessarily, so the only option was to go to their place for a get-together.

They decided to have it on Saturday evening, and everyone in the group responded enthusiastically.
