Chapter 88

Just before entering the Roberts residence, Annabeth reminded Justin to watch what he said.

Justin retorted, “I’m not some loudmouth.”

Annabeth scoffed. “Close enough.”

At the apartment, Gary and Layla hurried to welcome everyone in.

When Gary saw Hayden carrying a pile of gifts with him, he said, “Why’d you buy so much stuff? Didn’t we say to just come over for dinner?”

“How could I come empty-handed? Don’t worry about it, Mr. Roberts.’

Gary took the gifts. “Come in, come in. Take a seat. Dinner will be ready soon.”

There were a few dishes still being prepared, so Jonathan went to the kitchen to help, while Stella greeted everyone warmly.

Justin pulled her down onto the couch beside him. “You’re looking much healthier now, all rosy-cheeked and glowing. Is the stuff I gave you working well?”

“Yes, it’s quite good.”

“That’s good to hear.”

Everyone chatted idly on the couch until dinner was ready, then they all moved to the dining table.

Gary poured wine for everyone, then raised his glass in gratitude. “It’s such a blessing for my dear Stelle to have friends like you all. I want to thank each of you for taking care of her. And especially you, Professor Jenkins—thank you so much for giving her this opportunity.”

Hayden quickly stood up. “Mr. Roberts, please, there’s no need for such formality. It’s all because Stella herself is more than capable. I’m just the middleman.”

“Still, I must thank you. She’ll need your support and guidance down the road as well, so this is for you.”

Hayden didn’t refuse again and drank his wine.

Gary then moved on to Justin and Theodore, clinking glasses with them as well. He was the type who couldn’t help himself when he was happy.

Layla didn’t try to stop him either. It was rare to have such a lively and joyful gathering, so she joined in and had a few glasses herself.

Stella, on the other hand, clinked glasses with them with her glass of apple juice.

In her darkest and most difficult days-when she needed warmth and care the most-she had the support of these people who truly loved and cared for her. And it was precisely this love and concern that gave her the courage to face the future again.

At 9:00 pm, Hayden and the others gradually said their goodbyes. As they had all been drinking, they called for designated drivers.

Stella said goodbye to them, and Jonathan walked them to the elevator.

“Go back in, Jonathan,” Theodore said.

“Get home safely,” Jonathan replied, waving them off.

After seeing the elevator doors close, he turned to leave.

Soon, the day of Stella’s departure arrived.

Jonathan entered Stella’s room and handed her a debit card. “Take care of yourself over there.”

Stella gently pushed it back. “Dad already gave me ten million dollars. That’s enough. Your company needs the money at this stage, so you don’t have to give me anything.”

“The company has enough funds, don’t worry. What Dad gave you is from him, and this is

from me.”

Stella gave in and accepted the card. “Thank you, Jonathan.”

Since Tristan hadn’t returned, Stella asked Jonathan to find a lawyer to coordinate with

Tristan’s side later.

“I got it,” he answered.
