Chapter 89

By the time the Robertses arrived at the airport, Hayden was already waiting for them outside the terminal. Theodore and Justin had come to see Stella off too.

When it was time to go through security, Stella waved goodbye to them as Layla held her arm to support her.

At 1:00 pm, the flight to San Trello departed on time.

Stella sat in a window seat in business class, watching the city below gradually shrink away. Her fingers tightened around the necklace she was holding; inside the locket was Faith’s one- month-old photo. She knew that leaving now meant it would be very difficult for her to see Faith again.

“Baby, I’m so sorry…” she whispered as waves of sharp pain wrenched her heart again and again.

At the same time, a Bentley luxury sedan was heading home from the airport. Inside, Faith suddenly began to cry inconsolably. No matter how much Tristan held and soothed her, she couldn’t be calmed. Only after she had exhausted herself from crying and fallen asleep did the wailing gradually stop.

Tristan cradled the sleeping baby, carefully wiping the tears from her cheeks. His large hand patted her softly, his eyes filled with tenderness, and his heart ached for his daughter.

Five years later.

At the headquarters of Aspica Capital, toys and belongings of a little girl could be seen scattered around the spacious CEO’s office. Pastel colors filled the room, the walls were

covered in stickers, and there was even a drawing of a small bear hanging on one of the walls.

A kid-sized chair was positioned in front of the desk.

A delicate, doll-like little girl sat obediently in the chair, swinging her legs. Her hair was tied into two adorable buns wrapped with pearls, and a sapphire – encrusted hair clip sparkled on her head. Her small fingers swiped across a tablet as she quietly played Sudoku by herself.

Meanwhile, a tall, handsome man stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window. Dressed in a crisp white shirt and black straight-cut pants, his broad shoulders and narrow waist gave him an air of noble elegance.

With a hand in his pocket, he was in the middle of a work call, his brow furrowed in a stern,

serious expression.

When the call ended, Tristan turned to look at his daughter, sitting in front of the desk. Immediately, his expression softened. He walked over and saw that she had already reached level 100 in the game.

The corners of his lips curved into a smile as he gently patted her head. “You’re amazing, Fifi.”

Faith looked up at her father. Beneath her long lashes, her big eyes sparkled as though they held an entire galaxy.

“Daddy, I want to draw.”

Her voice was soft and sweet, like cotton candy.

Tristan scooped her up into his arms. “Let your eyes rest for a bit. You can draw later. Are you hungry?”

Faith nodded.

Tristan had some snacks sent up. And because Faith had a habit of sharing whatever she ate with her dad, he took a few bites with her.

Right then, a knock sounded at the door.

“Come in.”

Micah walked in.

Nowadays, he had grown accustomed to the sweet, milky scent of a child and the playful, colorful decor of the office.

Ever since Tristan started bringing Faith to work, his once icy and imposing presence had softened, no longer as intimidating as before.

Micah walked forward and handed over an invitation. “This is the invitation for next week’s

Finance Summit.”

Tristan took the invitation from Micah, glanced at it, then handed it back. “Make the arrangements.”
