The two met up at a restaurant for lunch.
Madeline asked why she suddenly cared about followers and traffic when she didn't need to make money from live streaming.
Lyra just smiled, keeping her reasons to herself.
In her past life, Jasmine had weaponized her millions of followers, dropping a few meticulously staged photos accompanied by a venomous caption: “Lyra Fairchild caught in an inappropriate relationship with a minor. Utterly depraved.”
That single, manipulative post had sparked an apocalyptic backlash. It had dragged Lyra and Liam into the crosshairs of public outrage, destroying her reputation overnight before she could even defend herself.
If she had possessed even a fraction of that platform back then, she wouldn't have been slaughtered in the court of public opinion.
"Starting today, I'm building a following," Lyra declared.
Madeline glanced at her phone, snatched it from her hand, and tapped away, setting up a catchy handle.
*The Fairchild Princess.*
Lyra had no objections to the nickname. She chuckled and tacked her real name onto the end. "So, how do I actually get people to follow me?"
"You could flex your wealth, post aesthetic lifestyle stuff—that always works. Or... honestly, Rowan is a walking algorithm boost. Last time I posted a picture from a gala, he accidentally ended up in the background. The internet went crazy. Thousands of people flooded my comments asking how I knew him, and I gained tens of thousands of followers in hours. I ended up deleting it because I was terrified he'd find out."
Lyra understood exactly what she was implying. "I'll stick to lifestyle posts."
She snapped a picture of her lunch.
The warm sunlight angled perfectly through the window, highlighting the food and giving the photo a cozy, inviting vibe.
She typed out a quick caption—*A beautiful day for lunch*—and hit post.
Madeline immediately followed her and liked the picture.
Madeline tried to stop her but failed. "Rowan and Lucas have massive public profiles! Their followers will stalk their lists and come find you. Isn't it a waste to just block him?"
"Not at all."
...
The next day, Lyra was buried in work at the office.
Right before clocking out, Caleb called. "There's a new restaurant everyone's raving about. Kayla and I got off early to grab a spot in line. Come over the second you're done."
"Sounds good," Lyra agreed cheerfully.
The place Caleb picked was wildly popular, famous for its incredible food and the stunning, panoramic city views from its top-floor dining room.
