In her wildest dreams, Lyra hoped Rowan and Lucas would end up in the same car or yacht, get into an accident, and both perish. She wanted them completely erased from her world, leaving no remaining ties.
Two days later, it was the day of Lucas's grand engagement party.
The Chavez family's banquet hall was packed with guests, the venue decorated with extravagant luxury. However, the star of the show, Lucas, had yet to appear. He was entirely absent from his own engagement party.
The Chavez family was in a frenzy. Lucas's mother was burning with anxiety and simply ordered a private car to go straight to the Fairchild residence and pick up Lyra.
Unable to get out of it, Lyra dragged Maddie along with her.
Meanwhile, the clueless guests at the Chavez estate assumed the delay was because Rowan hadn't arrived yet, believing the family was purposely holding off the ceremony for him.
"The Chavez family is certainly giving Rowan a lot of respect," one guest remarked.
"The ceremony won't start until Rowan is here."
"It's more than respect. They're clearly treating him as the ultimate VIP. If Rowan doesn't show, this engagement won't happen on time."
It wasn't until Lyra and Maddie arrived at the banquet hall that the truth became clear. The moment the two women walked through the doors, they instantly became the center of attention.
Isabella quickly rushed over, suppressing her anxiety. "Lyra, you're finally here."
The surrounding guests instantly caught on, exchanging knowing glances. It made perfect sense now—they weren't waiting for Rowan; they were waiting for Lyra.
Lyra stayed close to Maddie's side, feeling thoroughly uncomfortable under the collective gaze of the room.
Standing nearby, Leo noticed their arrival. He approached with a deep frown, his eyes carrying a hint of complex emotion. "Why are you two here?"
Maddie snapped in annoyance, "Ask your family."
Leo figured his relatives were losing their minds again. "Have a seat. I'll get you both something to drink."
