I look up at the large TV screens mounted across the Control room walls. It’s showing live camera footage from Nisha’s bridal shower and Baxter’s bachelor party at the same time. Just routine checks to make sure everything is alright and call the staff if I need to-

Except it’s not because Jenna joins the bridal shower in front of my eyes and then I see who she’s talking to. Jennifer.

“Whoa, Jenna and Jennifer. You must be obsessed with that name.”

“Shit.” Nate mutters, trying and failing not to smile at David’s fuckin joke.

“Don’t even.”

I warn the both of them without taking my eyes off the screen.

“I’m not laughing.”

“You think she’s here for revenge?” David asks, folding his arms. “You said her father is a Don, didn’t you?”

I exhale. “She’s the extremely jealous kind. Revenge is always a possibility with her.”

“You dated a Don’s daughter!? No, I mean you messed around with a powerful man’s daughter!?” David snap like it’s just filling his head. “You weren’t even scared?”

When he says Don, he means the one who runs this Italy’s underworld. The man who sets the rules even criminals follow.

“When I got back from the army. I didn’t care if she was the president’s daughter. I needed to learn how to run a casino business from the ground up, and the fastest teacher was her brother, Antonio. That’s how I met her.”

“And then you dated her.” Nate says.

“I didn’t DATE her.” My jaw tightens. “We had what we had. She knew it was never permanent. I made that very clear.”

“Wow!” Nate laughs. “So you slept with a Don’s daughter without any guarantees-”

“God, you guys…” I put my fingers into my hair. “You know what, get out of my control room. Both of you. I’ll handle this myself.”

“Hary-”

“Out.”

I look at David one last time. He and Nate chuckle, slap each other’s backs, and leave like idiots who don’t

understand when something’s about to go very wrong.

I rub my face slowly. I’m not sure how Nisha even knew to invite her, but the guest list is packed with influencers, so it makes sense. Jenna lives off attention on social media.

I watch the timing where male strippers come in to “entertain” the bridal party. My skin crawls. I don’t need Jennifer seeing this-

I zoom in on the screen. Really, my focus narrows until nothing else exists.

One of the idiots who is all oiled up, wearing leather pants decides to walk right up to her. He puts his boot on the couch right beside her and starts grinding like he’s paid to do. Jennifer looks shocked, then… amused?

Who the hell is this guy?

Jennifer starts laughing, putting a hand over one eye like she can’t believe it but can’t look away. It’s hot and furious in my chest, watching someone that close to her, even if it’s just a show. At least she isn’t touching him. She stays in her seat, laughing it off, uncomfortable but polite. I can’t say the same for the rest of the room. I feel sorry for their partners…whoever they are. Then I see Jenna.

She’s got a smirk on her face as she whispers to another stripper.

He nods and walks off.

He reaches for Jennifer’s hand, urging her up from her seat and gesturing toward an empty chair like this is all harmless fun.

The male stripper stands in front of her and his hands goes to his waistband.

I’m about to get out of my seat to blow his face to shards when Jennifer suddenly stands, and bolts from the

scene.

Good. Good. I swear, I breathe like someone closed my windpipe all this time. At least she ran. While I’m still trying to breathe and not die, I watch as Jenna looks straight into the camera and smiles lazily. Straight at me.

Like she knows I’m watching. She knows exactly what she’s doing. This isn’t coincidence…

I stand on the highest floor of the booth after an hour. Right now, the bridal shower is merging with Baxter’s bachelor party below. I guess it was part of the big plan over the course of the night.

spot Jennifer again immediately. And there’s Jenna…she’s sticking to Jennifer’s side like a shadow! Nisha makes her grand entrance with her crew, dancing toward Baxter and his pack of maybe a hundred guys. The MC starts some stupid game where Baxter is being blindfolded and has to guess which woman is his bride. His friends slap him on the back as they tie the blindfold. Nisha is led to the stage to sit with her friends.

“And now,” the MC says, dragging it out, “we need our… fake bride.”

He scans the crowd and what tightens my jaw… is when this idiot’s finger lands on Jennifer. It could’ve been anyone else he chose. Anyone.

I’m about to go down to stop that nonsense when I hear a familiar voice behind me.

“Hello, Harvey.”

I don’t turn. I already know it’s…

“Jenna.”

She presses herself against my back and lets out a fake moan before sliding around to stand in front of me, blocking my view of the stage.

“It’s been a year since we last saw each other. You didn’t even miss me?”

“Not really. You said you never wanted to see me again.” I answer.

“That was after you said you didn’t want me anymore. I was angry.” Her hair is still the same color. Brown. That practiced pout follows is the one she used whenever she wanted something from me.

I try to look past her, toward Jennifer but Jenna steps directly into my line of sight.

“Oh, wow. Did you finally track down your long-lost soulmate or something?

“Are you trying to make me upset with her?” I ask coldly. “How much did you pay that stripper to perform that stunt?”

Jenna folds her arms, pleased now that she knows she’s hit the nerve she wanted.

“A hundred bucks.” she says lightly.

“And the punk who took pictures of her at the amusement park?” I lift a brow.

“A little more.” Her smile sharpens. “I wanted to see her properly. See if she was pretty. Prettier than me.”

“I don’t like it. I never liked your games, but this one?” I lean closer. “This one I hate.”

“You left me-”

“You knew my heart was never yours! You knew it was always Jennifer’s.”
