“I know that you only married me for the sake of your family, and I know that you’ve been planning to divorce me for a long time. You wanted to make me a scorned woman, and you wanted to get revenge on me for taking Scarlett’s identity as the York heiress. But Brayden…”

Lindsay smiled bitterly. “I just want to ask you this. Was it my fault that they lost me all those years ago? When the Yorks found me four years ago, was it my intent? Even the marriage agreement with you was what the Yorks and the Harts wanted. What did any of that have to do with me?

“Right from the start, you all forced me to do those things. What gives you the right to blame me for any of it?”

Lindsay didn’t bother looking at him again. “I know that before I returned, you, Scarlett, and my biological parents were very happy. I ruined your happiness when I turned up,” she said impassively.

There was no hatred or resentment in her voice.

“Now, I’m leaving and letting everything go back to the way it once was. Isn’t that what you all wanted?”

When she was done speaking, Lindsay turned and left without looking back at Brayden.
