Chapter 25
Lindsay was startled at the news that Brayden had passed away.

Standing in a cemetery in Hulania, Lindsay gazed at the black-and-white photo of Brayden on the gravestone, feeling conflicted.
She had never imagined that they were now separated forever after only half a year had gone by.
Francesca couldn’t help but ask, “Lindsay, do you blame me? Brayden did send someone to look for you. He said that he wouldn’t accept stem cell treatment unless you were willing to
have a child with him.
“However, you said that you didn’t care whether he lived or died, so I decided not to tell you about it. If you’re going to blame anyone, blame me.”
Lindsay finally returned to her senses and smiled at Francesca. “Mom, what are you talking about? You made things very clear back then. I was the one who said that it’d be none of my
business, even if Brayden died.
“So, this wasn’t your choice. It was mine.”
Francesca’s eyes flickered. “If I had told you at the time—”
“Even if you had told me what Brayden said, I wouldn’t have saved him,” Lindsay said calmly. “After all, it’s his life. He can’t use it to chain me down.”
Brayden had kept to his word. After Lindsay refused to have a child for him so he could get treated, he refused to let any woman have his child.
Without the stem cell treatment, he didn’t even last six months.
When Lindsay heard about it, she didn’t feel any regret or guilt at all.
Perhaps others would have felt that Brayden’s actions had shown a deep devotion to her, but Lindsay only regarded it as him trying to guilt-trip her.
Perhaps Brayden had truly loved her, but it had all come too late. The things he did before he died had revolted Lindsay.
Did loving her mean that he could force her to return to his side by threatening her with his
life?
That wasn’t love. It was selfishness. Ultimately, Brayden had been trying to use his death to trap her for life.
Lindsay looked at the man in the photo. It was very in line with who he was. Even in death, all

he cared about was himself.
However, he had been wrong. Lindsay wouldn’t let herself be trapped by guilt.
She had lost all feelings for him from the moment she left. He was dead, but it didn’t change anything. Therefore, she turned and left without hesitation.
“Donate everything that Brayden left me to charity.”
