Chapter 14
Chapter 14
On AlphaPrime, if one partner felt the marriage was beyond repair, they could file for divorce.
If the other party agreed, the divorce would be finalized.
However, if the other party refused, the case would then proceed to the Interstellar Courthouse.
At that point, everyone on the planet would know the couple’s relationship had imploded.
Layla didn’t want to drag Atlas to the Interstellar Courthouse.
Besides, if he had filed for divorce, she would’ve agreed in a heartbeat.

But days passed, and with their freshman military training just around the corner, he still hadn’t made a
move.
Layla was decisive and straightforward; she wasn’t about to waste more energy or time on this.
So, she sent the divorce petition herself.
After she sent the request, there was no reply for a long time.
But military training had already begun, so she boarded the aero-vehicle with her classmates, heading for TrainingDelta.
For the next month, their opticalcomputers would be offline, cutting off external communication so they could focus entirely on their training.
Once on the aero-vehicle, Annie Knight plopped down beside Layla, nudging her with a shoulder.
“Layla,” she chirped, “where’s your little admirer been these past few days? He’s a freshman too, right? Why isn’t he here for military training?”
Annie and Layla hadn’t exactly seen eye-to-eye before.
But for some reason, Annie suddenly found Layla much more agreeable now!
Layla gave a deadpan look at the eager Annie. “He’s got his own things to deal with. Why, are you interested in him?”
“Yeah, actually. But since I can’t beat you, I figured I’d settle for second best. Could you set me up with one of his brothers?”
Layla’s mouth twitched.
Atlas had only one brother: Crown Prince Krish Zimmer, famously known across AlphaPrime as “the universe’s husband.”
Even if Layla dared to make an introduction, Annie probably wouldn’t touch him with a ten-foot pole.

Layla was exasperated. “Don’t you have anything better to do?”

“No, you do!” Annie countered. “I heard a rumor that Marcus Ayers from the graduating class, he heard your little admirer was pretty good and wants to challenge him to a mech combat.”
Marcus was a big name at the Imperial Academy, and he shared a similar background with Layla.
Both had spent their childhoods in an orphanage before being adopted by nobles from AlphaPrime.
Layla frowned. “Why would Marcus want to challenge him?”
Annie shrugged. “No idea. But troopers are pretty straightforward; they live by ‘might makes right. He probably heard about your little admirer beating Caleb James at the MechCombatArena that day and got interested.”
Layla remained silent, turning to gaze at the deep star-filled sky outside the viewport.
Now that her opticalcomputer was offline, she couldn’t know if Atlas had approved the divorce.
‘He probably had,’ she thought, seeing no reason for him to refuse.
A wave of disappointment washed over her.
Yet, Layla told herself that divorce was the best, and only, option for both her and Atlas.
Meanwhile, the stern-faced Prince Atlas sat at his desk, his long fingers tapping rhythmically against the surface.
An opticalcomputer displayed a divorce petition.
He almost laughed from sheer frustration.
She dared to divorce him?
Did she really despise him that much?
A flash of cold fury crossed Atlas’s deep-set eyes, and his subordinates around him dared not utter a sound.
Because if they did, they’d end up like Roger Lewis.
Banished to Wastelands-9 to hunt voidraiders!
The Crown Faction had always been wary of Atlas.
If he truly married a commoner, they would certainly breathe a sigh of relief.
After all, the future Empress would never come from common stock.
During his rut, it felt as though he’d regressed to childhood.
But Atlas remembered every word he’d spoken, every action he’d taken, down to the smallest detail!

With a one hundred percent GeneticPairing Program match, Layla was the most suitable partner for him.
But now, that woman had filed for divorce from him?
Atlas let out a cold chuckle and immediately dialed her number, but a robotic voice responded.
(No response. The opticalcomputer of the other party is currently off.]
Atlas’s face darkened further.
