In that moment, Layla felt a flicker of pity for her ex-fiancé. What was he thinking, challenging Prince Atlas
one-on-one?
She had complete faith in November’s combat skills. “Annie, Alex, Wallace-handle the others with me,” she commanded crisply over the team channel. “Let’s finish this quickly.”
“Got it!” Annie’s voice was eager.
The remaining members of the allied teams were still trying to coordinate an attack to swallow up Layla’s smaller squad.
To their shock, Layla’s team didn’t rush to defend their commander-instead, they launched a fierce, preemptive assault.
‘Are they just sacrificing their commander to take out a few of us? someone thought frantically! They were
curious.
Clang! Metal shrieked as mechs clashed. With energy reserves low from earlier hunting, it was all close- quarters brawling now.
The fight became a chaotic brawl. Even Annie couldn’t slack off now. If she got taken out here, she’d be costing the team precious points.
Because Layla led her three teammates to swiftly and precisely target the opposing commanders. Within minutes, both allied team commanders were eliminated. Next, the mech engineers followed.
The allied mech engineer screamed in frustration as his energy module was ripped out. “Caleb! Leon! Get back here!”
He was practically howling. “They’re attacking our base!”
Caleb heard his teammate’s desperate call, but he couldn’t disengage. He had been seething with rage the moment he saw November.
Knowing he couldn’t win alone, he’d teamed up with Leon Baker, trying to flank November from both sides.
But who could have guessed? November moved like a slippery eel. Their two-pronged attack couldn’t land a single solid hit on him.
On the contrary, their own mechs were getting more battered by the second.
A wave of despair washed over Caleb. Even with Leon’s help, they still couldn’t defeat November!
Just then, November’s mech suddenly drove a powerful punch straight through Caleb’s cockpit.
The cockpit tore open a large hole. The energy module wasn’t destroyed yet, but Caleb was violently ejected from his mech suit.

A sleek, black mech stood over him, looking down. For a terrifying moment, Caleb was certain November was going to crush him underfoot.
Then, he heard November’s voice, cool and clear over the external speakers. “You know… I should thank you.”
“Thank you for being blind and letting Star go. So she could become mine. He thought.
The words dripped with such sarcasm that Caleb nearly choked on his own blood. He wanted to retort that November might as well just mock him for being weak outright.
But the next moment, he saw the black mech turn and practically bounce toward Layla’s mech.
As for Leon Baker? He’d been taken out earlier. As the simulation staff escorted him away, he looked utterly dazed.
‘Why was their commander able to take out two troopers in minutes? I thought troopers were supposed to have the highest combat specs?’ He wondered.
The battle was over.
The eight members of the allied teams, who had come looking for easy prey, were all eliminated one by one and escorted off the field.
All the starbeast points they’d painstakingly hunted, plus the points for their own eliminations, were instantly transferred to Layla’s team.
Layla’s squad rocketed up to seventh place.
Annie pouted, a little disappointed. “We only moved up a few spots?”
A nearby mech engineer who was being led away nearly spat blood. “You’re complaining? If you think it’s too little, then why attack us!”
Annie immediately shot back, “Are you kidding? You ambushed us first! You picked the fight, you lost. Who’s to blame but yourselves?”
The mech engineer was truly about to hemorrhage. But Annie wasn’t wrong. They’d thought eight against five was a sure win.
Who knew they’d lose so spectacularly?
If anyone was to blame, it was Caleb James, charging at their commander and failing to beat him even two-
on-one.
Caleb was speechless.
After this series of blows, Caleb would probably need some serious time to recover.
In stark contrast to the utterly deflated Caleb, November bounded over to Layla, eyes shining, eagerly seeking praise. “Star, was I good?”

Layla couldn’t help but feel a little amused. She somewhat understood now why Prince Atlas’s face was always so stormy after his rut ended.
He’d remember every bit of his dopey, adorable behavior during this time. Someone as proud as him would find it unbearable.
But she had to admit, the Ninth Prince was truly exceptional. After all, he was Alpha Prime’s legendary War
God.
Layla nodded. “You were excellent.”
November immediately pressed, “Then does Star have a reward for me?”
Layla said, “We’ll talk later.”
November’s mood visibly deflated. He looked like a scolded puppy.
But quickly, he perked up again, saying cheerfully, “I know Star gets shy when there are people around. That’s fine, we’ll save it up! After this competition ends, Star can give me all the rewards at once, okay?”
Layla thought to herself, ‘By the time this competition ends, I’ll be having a serious talk with you about divorce. While you’re not in your right mind, we need to get this over with’
One was eagerly awaiting post-competition ‘rewards. The other was firmly planning a post-competition divorce.
But to outsiders, these two were just being disgustingly sweet again.
Annie even sighed dramatically to Wallace beside her, “Looking at Layla, being married doesn’t seem so bad after all.”
Wallace instantly hugged his bag of chips tighter, looking alarmed. “Annie, don’t waste your feelings on me. My heart belongs to food!”
Annie rolled her beautiful eyes. “Get lost!”
Rank changes were broadcast. The teams that had just been overtaken by Layla’s squad were shocked.
“If you encounter Layla Sullivan’s team, avoid them at all costs!” ordered the commander of the team that had just dropped to eighth, decisively.
Some lamented, “If only we’d recruited Layla. She’s practically unstoppable!”
But they quickly dismissed the thought. None of them wanted to cross Crown Squad.
As time ticked by in the competition, the lower-tier starbeasts in the arena were mostly cleared out. The surviving starbeasts, realizing these students were dangerous, began hiding.
Facing mid-tier starbeasts, the students had mixed success due to inexperience.
As for upper-tier starbeasts, currently, only Crown Squad had a recorded kill. Other students ran upon

And now, standing before Layla’s team, were two upper-tier starbeasts. Both S-Tier!
Simultaneously, the instructors watching the live feed in the monitoring room tensed up.
“Why are two S-Tier starbeasts appearing together?”
At the same time, in the monitoring room where the instructors were watching the live feed, the atmosphere turned tense.
“How did two S-Tier starbeasts appear at the same time!”
The entire arena was mostly populated with mid-tier and lower-tier starbeasts.
Upper-tier ones were already rare, and as for S-Tier, only one had been released into the entire field-and it had already been taken down by Crown Squad!
