Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 109

Xavier's voice floated down from above her. "You don't need to worry. Once Dr. Grant finishes with Hunter, he'll naturally go operate on your dad. I've already spoken to the hospital administration. They will do everything in their power to save him."

Hearing Xavier's voice now made Summer physically nauseous.

Fury battered against her ribcage. "Get out," she rasped.

Xavier frowned. "Summer, if you hadn't been so reckless and destructive, things wouldn't have escalated to this point. If you want to blame someone, blame yourself. You have no right to resent anyone else."

"Get out—"

Lily stepped forward, scolding her. "Summer, doesn't a man have pride? Xavier is speaking to you nicely, and this is how you act?"

Summer looked up at Lily. "You get out too—"

"Summer!" Xavier flared up, deciding she was completely unreasonable and ungrateful.

Summer stared at them with dead eyes. "Xavier, do you not understand English? I said get the hell out—"

She refused to waste another ounce of time or energy on this trash. They weren't worth it.

Right at that moment, Julian Hawthorne and Miles Sutton hurried over. Hearing her words, Julian's temper instantly spiked.

Before he even reached them, his scolding voice rang out. "Summer, are you a lunatic?! You actually followed them here to cause a scene? Look at where you are! This is a hospital corridor, outside an OR! It requires silence. It's not a place for you to throw a tantrum."

Summer's entire mind and soul were focused on her adoptive parents.

Yet these absolute idiots kept swarming around her.

Like repulsive flies that refused to be swatted away, they were incredibly annoying and utterly sickening.

Summer was ready to kill. She hovered dangerously on the edge of a total breakdown.

She looked at Xavier, grinding her back teeth, forcing out every word. "Can you tell your dog to shut up?"

Xavier knew exactly how deeply Summer loved her adoptive parents. In this entire world, aside from him and Leo, they were the people she cared about the most.

Xavier followed, not sparing Summer another glance.

Smug, Lily quickly hurried after Xavier.

Julian was the last to leave. He let out a heavy scoff and jogged to catch up with Lily. "How did she know Hunter got hurt? And why did she follow us here?"

His voice wasn't incredibly loud, but it wasn't quiet either. Summer heard every word perfectly.

"Her adoptive parents were in a car crash," Lily replied. "Their lives are hanging by a thread."

Hearing this, Julian let out a delighted laugh and looked back to sneer at Summer. "Serves her right! Anyone who raised someone like her probably wasn't a good person to begin with."

Summer's head snapped up, her eyes locking onto Julian. In that instant, Julian felt as if he had been targeted by a demon crawling straight out of hell.

Sinister, icy, and radiating a terrifying, murderous intent.

Just as he braced himself, assuming she was about to lunge and attack him, Summer simply turned her head away, completely ignoring his existence.
