Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 110

Julian scoffed and muttered under his breath, "Psycho."

Miles frowned and clapped a hand on his shoulder. "Alright, that's enough. Keep your voice down outside the operating rooms, and try showing some basic decency."

The group fell silent, and the corridor outside the OR returned to a suffocating quiet.

A few minutes later, the sharp sound of approaching footsteps echoed again, stopping right in front of Summer. "Summer."

She looked up. It was Sebastian Stone.

Sebastian had clearly rushed over. A few messy strands of hair fell across his forehead, and heavy beads of sweat dotted his brow. He looked slightly less put-together than his usual elite self, but his gentle demeanor remained.

He handed her a hot coffee. "Your favorite. A butter latte, standard sweetness."

He took a seat beside her. Seeing her stare at the cup in a daze, he gestured with his chin. "Drink up."

Summer took a small sip. The warm liquid washed down her freezing stomach, and sensation slowly returned to her icy hands and feet.

She turned to look at him, her voice low. "Sebastian, what are you doing here?"

Mindful of the OR, Sebastian kept his voice down. "Tessa called me screaming, demanding the details of your case. She told me I had to secure a flawless result today, or she'd disown me. So, here I am."

Summer knew instantly that Tessa had sent Sebastian because she was worried Summer would be all alone.

Tessa definitely had him buy the coffee, too.

Otherwise, how would Sebastian know her exact order?

Summer was deeply grateful he had come. "Thanks for the coffee."

"Then don't let it go to waste," Sebastian urged gently, signaling her to drink more. "You're completely pale, and you look terrible. Your parents still need you."

He was right. She had to take care of her parents, and she desperately needed the caffeine to stay sharp.

As Summer took small sips, Sebastian added, "I've filed the lawsuit."

Summer froze, her eyes widening in pleasant surprise. "Really?"

Fortunately, everyone assumed he was just speaking out of general gentlemanly courtesy, not thinking much of it.

He secretly let out a breath of relief.

Still indignant, Julian pressed on. "Just look at them! Their arms are pressed together, and their heads are practically glued to each other. If they're doing this in public, she'll probably be sitting on his lap as soon as they're alone."

Xavier's eyes remained unreadable—dark, calm, and as stagnant as a freezing pool.

But the hand shoved in his pocket involuntarily curled into a tight fist.

They say a woman's intuition is sharp, but a man's isn't far behind.

The first time he ran into them at the airport, Xavier instantly disliked Sebastian.

Now, he hated him even more.

But the flash of hostility was like faint smoke in the wind—light, transient, and quickly suppressed.
