Summer took a deep breath, her voice absolute ice. "The compensation I want is this: the three of you are going to get out of my sight and get the hell out of my house right now!"
Xavier's eyes flashed with anger. "Summer!" his voice was dangerously low.
Summer practically spat the words, "Get out—"
She didn't want to speak another word to them. Just looking at their faces made her nauseous.
She was going to contact a real estate agent and sell this house immediately!
Even if she had to slash the price, she was selling it!
She couldn't wait another second.
"No!" Hunter threw a massive tantrum, sobbing at the top of his lungs. "I want to stay here for the weekend! Wahhh, Lily, I want to play here! I'm not leaving! I won't leave!"
Between his dramatic sobs, Hunter shot venomous glares at Summer and Leo.
*They* were the ones who needed to get out!
Once they were gone, this house would belong to him and Lily!
"Refusing to leave? Fine." Summer pulled out her phone. "Then I'll just have the police escort you out. Just don't come crying to me when the entire neighborhood watches you get thrown out like trash."
"Wahhh... I'm not leaving, I won't leave, I'm staying right here..."
Hunter kept screaming, and Summer remained rigidly unyielding. Xavier felt a massive headache coming on.
Seeing that Summer was actually about to dial the police, Xavier swatted his hand out. "Enough!"
Xavier hit her hard. Summer's phone was smacked right out of her hand, crashing onto the floor with a loud *smack*, the screen shattering into a spiderweb of cracks.
The back of Summer's pale hand instantly turned an angry red, stinging with numbness. Xavier shot her a cold, apathetic look, clearly believing she had brought this upon herself.
"It's the weekend. What exactly are you trying to prove? Don't you feel embarrassed?"
"I'm not the one cheating, and I'm not the homewrecker. What do I have to be embarrassed about?" Summer bent down to pick up her phone, pressing the buttons a few times. It was completely dead.
Hearing Summer's words, a nerve ticked furiously in Xavier's forehead.
For a second, he almost thought Summer had figured everything out.
But if she had known, she wouldn't have just dropped subtle hints—she would have confronted him directly and torn the house down by now.
She was only saying this to provoke him and mock Lily.
Seeing Summer's phone was broken, Leo immediately pulled out his own.
"Call the vet!"
Xavier gently stroked Fang's trembling body, his voice tight, carrying a faint tremor. "Fang, don't be scared. Hold on! It'll be over soon, you're going to be okay."
Fang's body convulsed uncontrollably, white foam bubbling from his mouth. The light in his eyes was rapidly fading, his eyelids drooping heavily.
He looked at Xavier, then slowly shifted his gaze through the crowd to land on Summer. His eyes looked wet, glassy with moisture, sending a sudden, inexplicable twist of pain through Summer's heart.
Fang locked eyes with Summer, letting out small, agonizing whines that sounded like heartbroken sobs.
A wave of sadness and reluctance washed over Summer. Had taking care of him for just a few days actually made her attached?
But with Xavier and Lily there, she refused to walk over.
Summer quietly pulled back the foot she had extended, clenching her hands into tight fists, repeating a mantra in her head:
*That is Lily's wolf!*
*Not mine!*
*He has nothing to do with me. Don't be soft. Don't play the saint.*
