Leo's lips were dry and cracking. Summer quickly poured him a glass of warm water, and he eagerly gulped it all down.
Seeing how desperately thirsty he was, Summer felt her heart shatter into a million pieces.
Once Leo finished drinking, Summer carefully changed his clothes, packed his essential belongings into his backpack, slipped it onto his shoulders, and carried him downstairs.
As soon as she hit the bottom step, she ran directly into Xavier, who was coming up to find her.
Xavier's expression was stormy. "Summer, are you seriously selling the house?"
Summer acted as if he didn't exist. Holding Leo securely, she kept walking toward the door until Xavier grabbed her arm. "Summer, I am talking to you."
Summer stared at him with zero emotion. "Funny, I thought I just heard trash blowing in the wind."
Xavier's tone grew dangerously low. "Summer!"
"Xavier, your son is running a high fever. Did you even know that?"
Before Xavier could form a response, Summer let out a dark chuckle. "Of course you didn't. Since the second you walked through that door, you haven't given your son a single thought. If you had bothered to check on him even once, he wouldn't have been left upstairs without a single drop of water."
Xavier's brow furrowed heavily as he looked at Leo.
Before he left, he had explicitly instructed the nanny to take good care of the children.
Clearly, the nanny hadn't done her job.
Leo's arms were wrapped tightly around Summer's neck. His face was flushed with fever, and the white bandage on his forehead was dotted with fresh blood.
"Why didn't you tell anyone you had a fever?" Xavier asked.
Leo refused to speak, burying his face into Summer's shoulder, making it painstakingly obvious he wanted absolutely nothing to do with the man.
Hugh the realtor nervously rubbed his hands together and approached them. "Uh, Ms. Vance, look, selling a house isn't a one-person decision..."
Before he arrived, he had zero clue this mansion belonged to the wealthiest man in Empire City.
Being stopped and questioned earlier by Xavier, who was currently sitting on the sofa backed by a wall of massive bodyguards, was downright terrifying.
As for the house itself, he couldn't care less.
Summer obviously knew Xavier didn't give a damn about the mansion. She wasn't naive enough to think a man who didn't even care about his own flesh and blood would shed a tear over some cold concrete.
She only said it to make Lily squirm.
Suddenly, Lily let out a soft laugh. She walked gracefully to Xavier's side, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with him. "Summer, whatever you're asking for the house, I'll buy it."
Summer turned to Hugh. "What's the appraisal?"
Hugh nervously answered, "Thirty million dollars."
Summer nodded and smiled sweetly at Lily. "Tell you what, since we're all such good friends here, I'll give you a discount. Three hundred million. You agree to the price, and I'll sign the papers right now."
Lily scowled.
Summer sneered, "If you don't have the cash, then stop acting like a high roller!"
