Summer stumbled as she was dragged away, her right hand reaching out before another security guard instantly grabbed it.
The two guards seized her arms, dragging her backward as if she were a sack of garbage rather than a human being.
Her posture was undeniably undignified, and her struggles proved futile, but she angrily berated them, looking as furious as she was disheveled.
The surrounding wealthy heirs burst into roaring laughter, their exaggerated and grotesque cackles making them look like a pack of braying hyenas.
"Hey, my coffee spilled," one of them mocked. "Drag her over here and make her mop the floor!"
As he spoke, the trust-fund kid dramatically raised his coffee cup and tipped it over, pouring the dark liquid directly onto the ground.
Taking his cue, the others quickly followed suit.
"My water spilled too," a socialite sneered. "Bring her over to clean it up."
One particularly vile guy even spat onto the pavement.
"Bring her here and make her wipe up my spit!"
In the eyes of these lawless rich kids, Summer was nothing more than an inhuman mop.
The guards knew how humiliating this was, but these elites held all the wealth and power; if indulging them meant earning a hefty tip, the guards were more than willing to play along.
With that thought in mind, they forcefully dragged Summer straight toward the puddle of coffee, water, and spit.
Julian was thoroughly amused by his peers, laughing the loudest as his pent-up frustration finally found a release.
Lily let a faint smile touch her lips. "Isn't this going a bit too far?"
"If you think it's too much, why aren't you stepping in to stop them?" Wesley asked.
Lily's heart skipped a beat; although Wesley's tone sounded casual, she immediately sensed the underlying judgment.
"I'm just worried Summer wouldn't appreciate it," Lily quickly explained. "I'd only be making a fool of myself."
Julian frowned in displeasure. "Hey, Wesley, what's that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing," Wesley replied calmly, turning to look at Xavier. "You're not going to intervene either?"
"Weren't we heading inside?" Xavier asked coldly.
Julian didn't dare cross Wesley.
The Hawthornes used to be a second-tier family; years ago, when Xavier was abducted by enemies, Julian had risked his life to protect him.
He had even taken a severe blow to the head from the attackers.
After Xavier was rescued, he started bringing Julian into his inner circle.
Because of that connection, the Hawthorne family's status skyrocketed.
Julian gained access to elite circles he otherwise would never have reached, rubbing shoulders with people like Wesley.
Even though Wesley hung out with him, Julian was fully aware that it was only out of respect for Xavier.
Their actual relationship was far less solid than it appeared.
Julian felt as if he had just swallowed something foul; he was furious but forced to choke it down.
Venting his anger on the guards, Julian snapped, "Are you deaf? Didn't you hear what Wesley said?"
