Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 192

The guards awkwardly let go, bowing and profusely apologizing to Wesley.

Wesley didn't say a word, simply reaching out to help Summer to her feet.

Summer hadn't expected Wesley to step in; it seemed the Whitmore family raised good men.

If that was the case, did it mean she still had a chance to get him to treat her mother?

Opportunities like this were rare, and Summer didn't want to wait for another one.

She had come today specifically for Wesley, terrified that her mother's condition would only worsen with time.

But with Xavier standing right there, she couldn't get a private moment with Wesley. What if she faked a fainting spell?

A doctor like Wesley wouldn't just leave her collapsed on the ground, right?

Summer was a woman of action. The moment the thought crossed her mind, she closed her eyes and let her body go completely limp.

Startled, Wesley instinctively wrapped his long arm around her, catching her securely before pressing his fingers against her wrist to check her pulse.

Her pulse was steady and strong. He let go of her wrist and glanced down at the woman in his arms. "Cut the act, Summer."

Summer remained dead silent.

"If you don't open your eyes, I'm dropping you."

Summer kept her eyes tightly shut, but her fingers covertly tightened their grip on Wesley's shirt.

Wesley obviously felt it and let out an amused scoff; he had never met a woman quite like her.

Her sharp tongue was unmatched, and she rarely lost a verbal sparring match.

She was incredibly persuasive, too. After just one meeting with his grandfather, she had become his new favorite person. He strongly suspected she had researched the old man's pen name specifically to buy that painting.

And now, she was faking a fainting spell and clinging to him. Did she think his kindness made him a pushover?

"I'm really letting go," Wesley warned.

Summer kept her eyes shut, her grip tightening another fraction of an inch.

Xavier and his group finally walked over.

Seeing Summer resting in Wesley's arms, their expressions shifted dramatically.

To earn the rest of the money, Summer had taken a grueling late-night delivery job, crossing paths with the street-racing Wyatt.

Terrified of getting penalized for late deliveries, she pushed her beat-up motorcycle to its limits, riding faster and wilder than Wyatt's expensive sports car.

Refusing to be outpaced by a junker, Wyatt chased her all night and even ended up helping her finish her delivery route.

After that, he recruited her to race at his club so she could win enough prize money for her surgery, and he even introduced her to the surgeon.

The two had been good friends ever since.

Wyatt looked frantic. "What happened? She just called me to come pick her up, and a few minutes later she's passed out?"

The guards standing nearby felt the blood drain from their faces.

What was going on? Did this woman actually know their boss?

And he had personally driven out to get her!

Treating a VIP like that right in front of the entrance... they had just signed their own death warrants!
