"He clearly lied to me, used me. I dedicated my youth to him, bore him a child, and in the end, I don't even have the right to ask for a divorce. Isn't that hilarious?"
Summer let out a soft laugh. With her red eyes and glistening tears, the smile seemed shattered and helpless.
"In a fit of anger, I hired a lawyer and filed for divorce in court. The lawyer helped me gather evidence of his affair in the US."
"He used my mother's illness, my friend's job, and my senior's company to threaten me. It's only fair to return the favor. He threatened me, so I retaliated with the infidelity video."
"To force me into submission, he wanted to send Leo abroad so I'd never see him again. Leo is only five, his own biological son."
Summer choked up, unable to speak anymore. Her tears broke like a dam, and the tissue in her hand was crumpled into a ball by her slender fingers.
Wesley knew most of what Summer said was true.
Xavier really had never loved her. Marrying her was just because she lacked a powerful background, making it easier for Xavier to divorce her in the future.
A while ago, Xavier had consulted him about situations abroad since Wesley had studied overseas. Xavier said he wanted to send Leo abroad.
He had assumed it was to cultivate the boy's education, entirely unaware it was used to threaten Summer.
Seeing Summer sobbing so heartbrokenly, Wesley finally relented. "Let's go. We'll check on your mother first."
Summer snapped her head up, her face covered in tears. "Really?"
Wesley handed her another tissue. "Let's check her condition first."
Summer broke into a smile through her tears. Just as she was about to say okay, a sudden sound popped, and a snot bubble actually formed from her nose.
Summer was mortified.
Wesley froze for a second, then turned his head and started laughing softly, his shoulders shaking.
Humiliated, Summer wiped away her tears and snot, thinking to herself that it was worth it. Getting a laugh out of Dr. Whitmore was fine, at least he agreed to take a look.
Summer practically jogged, wishing she could fly Wesley to the ward.
With his long legs, Wesley easily kept pace with her, teasing, "Slow down, do you think your legs have wheels on them?"
Summer didn't stop. "I'm afraid you'll back out."
Wesley said in a sincere tone, "Summer, I always keep my word."
Seeing that Summer didn't believe him and wouldn't let go, Wesley simply took off his white coat.
"I'll leave the coat in your care then." With that, Wesley turned and strode away.
Summer gripped Wesley's white coat, gritting her teeth.
Then she went into the ward, told Maeve she'd be back, and chased after Wesley to Xavier's ward.
Only Julian Hawthorne and a caregiver were in the ward.
Carlson Sterling had fallen ill from anger, Arthur Sterling went to the company, and Zelda Sterling, not feeling well, was persuaded to go home and rest.
Julian still had bandages on his face. Seeing Summer, his eyes turned cold. "What are you doing here?"
Summer sneered, "Hilarious. You, an outsider, can be here, but I, his wife, can't? Please use your brain before you speak from now on, idiot!"
