But that was the past. Summer could never stoop to subservience or compromise herself again.
"By the way, Mr. Sterling, remember to tell them that you suffered an injury down there that can't be cured. It won't just affect your married life, but also your ability to have children. In other words, you're sterile!"
Xavier's expression instantly turned grim. "Summer, do you really think filling out a divorce application means everything is smooth sailing?"
Summer wasn't afraid of him at all. "Mr. Sterling, I'm doing this for your own good. If you're sterile, when your affair with Lily comes to light in the future, your family won't give her a hard time because of the child in her belly."
"Of course, you'll say you can protect her. I believe you. But what about your family? Will they die of anger because of you? Will they refuse to acknowledge Lily's status for the rest of her life, just like they did to me? But if you're sterile, it's a different story. So, think about it yourself, whether you want to be sterile or not."
Having said that, Summer opened the door and walked out. "Call me when your parents arrive. Also, get the pregnancy report ready."
Leaving Xavier's ward, Summer looked at Sebastian, who had been standing quietly beside her. "Sebastian, thanks for making a trip personally."
Sebastian's smile was gentle. "For your matters, I naturally have to come personally. Let's go, we'll check on your mother first."
When Summer and Sebastian returned to Maeve's ward, Wesley was just removing the acupuncture needles.
After finishing, Wesley called Summer and the caregiver over. "I'll teach you a set of massage techniques. Massage the patient for half an hour every morning, afternoon, and evening."
After teaching the massage techniques, Wesley left a diet plan, went over some precautions, and prepared to leave.
Summer stopped Wesley, took out her phone, and opened her mobile banking transfer interface. "Dr. Whitmore, I'll transfer the millions of dollars for the treatment fees to you. Give me your card number."
Millions of dollars, given without batting an eye. Wesley somewhat admired Summer; after all, it wasn't two hundred or two thousand dollars, it was millions.
Wesley said, "Just go pay at the hospital billing counter."
Summer's mouth fell open in surprise. "Huh?"
Wesley raised an eyebrow. "What? Trying to wire me money privately so I get disciplined?"
Wesley was a public sector talent who didn't take a single penny from the people, righteous to a fault!
"Shut up!" Zelda reprimanded sharply, her piercing gaze locked on Summer. "Summer, as soon as Xavier is discharged, you two are getting a divorce. The Sterlings don't want a daughter-in-law like you!"
Summer laughed. "Sure. Ask Xavier if he agrees."
Seeing that Summer still had the nerve to laugh, Zelda's expression grew even uglier.
Xavier said, "Mom, Summer is pregnant. We're not getting a divorce."
"It's just a child," Zelda scoffed, her face full of contempt and disdain. "With her trash genes, how smart could any child she gives birth to be? I'm more worried she'll pollute our family's good genetics."
Of course, Zelda dared to say this primarily because Wesley personally performed the surgery and said it was highly successful, so there wouldn't be any issues.
Xavier could still have children in the future, so the child in Summer's belly didn't matter.
Summer smiled and nodded. "In that case, give Leo to me too. I'll take him away, and from now on, I'll have absolutely nothing to do with the Sterlings."
