Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 358

Summer returned to the small lounge and noticed the large wet patch on Silas's shirt. The memory of her sobbing into his chest brought a wave of embarrassment.

"I'm sorry, I ruined your shirt."

Silas shook his head dismissively. "It's just a shirt. It'll wash out. Besides, your tears aren't dirty. You never have to apologize to me."

Now that she had calmed down, Summer explained Leo's medical condition in detail. Silas was heartbroken and furious, but mostly, he was consumed by regret.

He blamed himself.

If he had known this would happen, he never would have let Xavier take Leo away, no matter what.

So what if the Sinclair family found out about Leo's true identity?

But dwelling on 'what ifs' was pointless now.

The only thing left to do was find the absolute best medical experts for the boy.

With the Sterling family's vast resources, they had immediately contacted the nation's top medical team the moment Leo was hurt.

Now, their best bet was seeking specialists abroad.

Setting that aside, Silas asked Summer, "Was this an accident or intentional?"

Summer hadn't been at the scene, so she only knew the rough details. With Leo still unconscious post-surgery, she couldn't ask him for the truth.

Silas asked, "Are you involving the police?"

Summer nodded without hesitation. "Yes." Her son hadn't gotten hurt for no reason. The Sterling family owed her an explanation.

She grabbed her phone and dialed the police.

Officers were dispatched to the hospital and the Sterling Estate.

After receiving a call from his family, Xavier rushed back to the hospital room, arriving just as the police left.

"Summer, you called the cops?" Xavier demanded, his expression cold as he strode toward her, only to be blocked by Silas.

Seeing Silas standing there, Xavier's face darkened instantly. It felt as if he had just been handed a massive, glaring reminder of betrayal, fueling his rage.

He completely forgot that he and Summer had been divorced for a long time.

Xavier took a deep breath, suppressing an inexplicable wave of agitation, and snapped coldly, "Silas, don't you have a company to run?"

Silas's dark, profound eyes cut through Xavier like a blade. "Xavier, I never should have let you take Leo. You don't deserve to be his father."

Xavier let out a casual, mocking scoff. "I don't deserve it, but you do? Are you really that desperate to play stepdad to my son?"

Without a shred of hesitation or evasion, Silas replied, "Yes." And legally speaking, he already was!
