Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 418

Miles handed the wet wipe to Summer's assistant, took the fork, and nodded in agreement. "Absolutely."

Summer urged, "Hurry up and try it. The executive chef made this himself."

Miles ate with a fond smile, keeping it a secret that he was actually the silent partner and co-owner of that very bistro.

Summer joined in for a few bites. "Looking at those two cheating scumbags completely killed my appetite. Chef Laurent's cooking is much better."

Miles' heart ached for her, and he continuously pushed more food onto her plate.

Summer laughed, pulling her plate away. "Alright, alright, I'm going to gain weight at this rate."

"You'd look gorgeous either way."

"You're just flattering me."

"Haven't you seen how pearls and jade are admired for being full and radiant? It's a sign of stunning elegance."

The siblings shared their late-night meal before Miles urged Summer to go home and rest, reminding her that Leo was waiting for her.

After Summer left, Miles washed up and was about to go to sleep when his phone rang.

A gruff voice echoed through the speaker. "Boss, we found the guy you asked us to look into. How do you want to handle this?"

Recalling the scene Summer's assistant had described, a ruthless glint flashed in Miles' eyes. "Take one of his fingers first. Then ask if he's willing to redeem himself."

At an abandoned factory on the outskirts of the city.

The area was desolate and overgrown with weeds.

The man who had extorted Summer earlier that afternoon was currently pinned flat against the dirt by two massive enforcers.

Standing over him was a man with a heavily scarred face.

The scarred man radiated a bloodthirsty menace, casually flipping a gleaming combat knife in his hand.

The driver was deathly pale, babbling frantically for mercy. "Please, I was wrong! Please let me go! I have money, I'll give it all back to you!"

The scarred man hiked up his pants, slowly crouched down, and patted the man's cheek with the flat of the blade, sneering. "You've got some nerve, shaking down my boss."

The man instantly realized this was about Summer and the hundred thousand dollars.

If he had known that woman had this kind of ruthless backing, he would never have taken the job.

Fortunately, he had only slightly swerved to avoid the falling dog, causing a minor scrape.

There had been no casualties, otherwise, his fate would be far worse.

Now, his regret was absolute. He sobbed uncontrollably, apologizing repeatedly. "I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! I can refund every single cent!"

"The lady tipped you, so the money is yours. But you still have to pay a little price."

With that, the scarred man dragged the driver's hand out and pinned it forcefully to the ground.

The man thrashed in pure terror, screaming incoherently, begging and pleading for his life.

Unmoved, the scarred man brought the blade down in a swift, brutal arc. Blood splattered across his scarred face.

The man's pinky finger was severed.

One second, two seconds, three seconds passed—

"Ahhh!" The man shrieked in agony.

The scarred man spat on the ground, stood up, and delivered a vicious kick to the man's ribs. "Shut up! Or I'll take the whole hand!"

The kick folded the man in half. Feeling as if his internal organs had been ruptured, he curled into a ball, utterly broken by terror.

Despite the excruciating pain, the man clamped his mouth shut, biting his lip until it bled, not daring to make another sound.
