Dexter was the only one still fuming.
Lilith swept her gaze across the room and sneered inwardly: Trying to force her out? Not a chance!
When the meeting adjourned, Summer was the first to leave the room.
Lilith hurried after her. "Summer, you aren't angry, are you?"
"Why would I be angry?" Summer smiled warmly at passing employees, but the moment they were out of earshot, her face turned to ice. "I already told you, consider it charity."
Summer strode away, leaving Lilith standing there, her knuckles turning white as she gripped her folder.
Just you wait, Summer.
Once the bet is over and I take your eight percent of the shares, I'll kick you out of the Sutton Group for good. You're an eyesore!

Three days later, at the Sterling Estate.
Perhaps because Xander had awakened, Xavier had been coming home frequently to spend time with him.
During dinner, Xavier brought up the topic of officially adding his twin sons to the family registry.
Carlson suddenly remembered his two great-grandsons were still missing from the records. "I'll have Master Lucius select an auspicious date."
Ever since Xander woke from his coma, Carlson had become increasingly reliant on Master Lucius's superstitions.
Zelda turned to Xavier. "Perfect. You can use this time to get the paternity tests done."
Carlson looked at Zelda in surprise. "It's been this long and they still haven't done the paternity tests?"
Zelda was supposed to be handling this matter.
Leo had been tested the moment he was born, so Carlson assumed the twins had undergone the same procedure.
Zelda glared at Xavier. "He refuses to allow it. He claims it's disrespectful to *her*."
"Nonsense!" Carlson slammed his hand on the table, his face darkening with authority. "I am drawing the line right here. They will not be added to the registry until the paternity tests are complete."
"Grandfather!" Xavier frowned deeply. "They are my own flesh and blood, don't I know that best? Is a test really necessary?"
"Absolutely necessary! In fact, it is mandatory!" Carlson refused to yield an inch.
Xavier was equally stubborn. "Then forget about it! I will never subject my sons to a paternity test! Never!"
He had no idea that his words would soon come back to haunt him in the worst way—but that was a story for another day.
Seeing another argument brewing, Xander rubbed his temples. The house was rarely peaceful, and every fight inevitably revolved around Lilith.
Xander wasn't naturally superstitious, but anyone who constantly tore a family apart was, in his eyes, toxic.
Furthermore, he despised Lilith personally.
His distaste for her stretched back to the very first day Xavier brought her home, claiming she was the girl who had saved his life.
Xander hadn't liked her from the start.
Years ago, Xavier had been found at an orphanage and rushed back because their grandmother was critically ill.
After the funeral, Xavier begged their parents to adopt the girl who had saved him.
